Movie Reviews of Brother Sun, Sister Moon (Widescreen)

Movie Review: Wonderful and inspiring
Summary: 5 Stars

Amazon's reviewer is mistaken. This movie is not boring. It is very inspiring, and can teach us all a lot about how we ought to live and think about God. If the actor who played St. Francis is, I think the review said "forgettable" (not sure, can't access that page right now but that was the idea) well, think about what St. Francis was really like....his ministry wasn't about HIM, it was about loving and serving God and others. How appropriate that the actor wasn't self-aggrandizing, in such a role. The scenery is beautiful and appropriate, and so is the depiction of what the church was like at the time. I would recommend this movie to anyone who wonders how to live for God and others.

Movie Review: Sheer Memorable Beauty!
Summary: 5 Stars

"Brother Sun & Sister Moon" is the most beautiful film I have ever seen. I first saw it as a child and taped some of the lines on an audio tape and they have remained with me always. The story of Francis is romanticised but the message is so timeless, the cinematography so beautiful and the music so appropriate that it doesn't matter. The message of the film remains true, how ever far removed it might be from the life of St. Francis.
It is sheer simplicity and beauty rolled into one. If I were only allowed one film to watch, it would be this one!

Most Beautiful Princess

Movie Review: Timely and Spiritual - Beautiful
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie is a rather hokey making of the story of St. Francis of Assisi. Having said that I must say I found it beautiful and moving beyond belief. However, I was so moved I bought 7 more copies and gave them to my family and only one person thought of the movie as did I. If you are not a person inclined to believe that people can connect to an unseen world for spiritual reasons, then you will not get anything out of this movie. However if you are such a person you will be greatly moved. I very much recommend this movie. The songs by Donovan are again hokey but fit perfectly into this movie.

Movie Review: Brother Sun, Sister Moon (a movie about Francis of Assisi)
Summary: 5 Stars

When I first saw this movie at a theater in 1975 I was completely overwhelmed and moved in a very positive way by it's compassion and beauty. The acting by all the actors is excellent, Zeffirelli's direction and the photography is wonderful, and because this movie led me to years of study of and reverence for Francis of Assisi, I can say that the the movie is mostly historically accurate.
For those of you who consciously or unconsciously yearn for a compassionate lovingness in todays hard world, this movie will deeply move you, inspire you positively, and uplift you.

Movie Review: Who the hell is Tom Keogh?
Summary: 5 Stars

Tom Keogh clearly has no taste. Brother Son Sister Moon is a wondrous experience and I am not a religious person. To me, the message of what it should be like to be truly spiritual is given first rate treatment here. The film is beautiful and I wish there would be a blu ray version released - I would snap it up in a heartbeat. The period seems authentic, the music complementary to the message. The acting quite natural and inspiring. I watch this film at least once a year. So Mr. Keogh, get a clue. You can't recognize a good film if your life depended on it.
