Movie Reviews of Broadway Danny RoseMovie Review: Superb interpretation by Mia Farrow Summary: 4 Stars
As a mad fan of Woody Allen, I have to recognize that his ex gives a show of interpretation in this film. She is simply delightful! I gave "only" four stars because if other films by Woody deserve only 5 stars, then a give 4 for this but 5 for my other review "THe Front".
Movie Review: Woodrow Woody Summary: 3 Stars
Woody Allen will certainly go down in history as a very good film maker, but this film and several others I can think of place him as one of America's great preservationists. Woody works very hard to recreate lost worlds, here the world of vaudeville, the hustler days of B'Way, lost to real estate development (Rockefeller Center) and skyrocketing real estate prices, among other things. Woody like his Jewish counterparts Neil Simon and Mel Brooks loved this world of bimbos and hoodlums. Woody is all sentiment and comedy; as in "Bullets Over Broadway," he can't find anything to criticize. This is a love letter to a world long gone, if it ever actually existed. Curiously, the last effort to give homage to this world came in the first act of the recent "King Kong," an equally well-crafted recreation, without the love and humor of Wood Allen.
Movie Review: See, there was this.. Summary: 3 Stars
Okay. So there were a bunch of guys (talented or not) sitting around a Broadway deli talking about.... Well, who else. In this very funny send up of the seamy side of the nickel and dime theatrical business Woody Allen outdoes himself in his desire to placate his clientele. His over the top mannerisms and continual use of the by now obligatory use of the word `darling' by talent agents takes away a little from his performance but watch it nevertheless. And Mia Farrow as a Jersey style Mafioso doll is just fine. Can true love ever come of such a pairing except in a Woody Allen movie? Well, just ask that bunch of guys sitting around that deli. See.
