Movie Review: What can I say? IT GREW ON ME!
Summary: 5 Stars
When "Chaotic" first aired on UPN, I was just silent with shock at how down-to-earth Britney Spears really is. It's actually refreshing to see a celeb who doesn't have an inflated ego and can just be herself! Even if there were times when I thought she needed to ride the short tour bus: "They look like boobs... They're my KNEES! HAAHAHA" *slaps forehead*
Alright, here's the review: This set includes all SIX episodes of Chaotic as well as some pretty cool extras. Personally, most of the DELETED SCENES should have been aired instead some of the stupid, asinine stuff they chose. For example, in one of the deleted scenes Kevin actually mentions Shar Jackson (his pregnant wife) for the first time and explains to Britney that he has a kid. It shows the situation in a totally different light as it shows Brit's sympathy toward Shar until Kevin assures her it's been over "for a long time."
And I couldn't stop laughing during the one episode, "Magic Happens," 'cause Britney is still being goofy when she's genuinely scared at the French-Spanish border:
Britney: "We're being interrogated. Therre's a dawg... he gon' get on my bus! If anyone finds this tape, I just want to be remembered as a good person."
Hey, I'm a Brit fan so I was loving it--it was cute. Just plain, unscripted footage of Britney while she was on tour.
Although I liked the show, well most of the show (especially the special Wedding episode), JIVE didn't do such a hot job with the Special Features. I mean, most of Britney's DVDs are jam-packed with videos, interviews, and other cool things but this set included the videos for "Do Somethin'" and "Someday (I Will Understand), both awesome songs but why didn't they include Chris Cox's "BS Megamix" video?
The Bonus CD was a'ight... not the best bonus disc I've heard from her. The MP3s of both "Chaotic" and "Someday" have been available on the internet for at least 6 months and I can't speak for everyone but the 3rd track, "Mona Lisa," was just annoying. I heard she had some kind of fascination with the Mona Lisa painting a while back but she never publicly explained it... as a result, that song's a head-scratcher.
So, after all is said and done, I just have a couple things to iterate: 1) If you are NOT a Britney Spears fan, don't buy this Britney DVD; try "In The Zone" or "Live and More!" 2) Don't review this package unless you've bought it 'cause it's not just episodes of "Chaotic" (3 hours of additional footage) and 3) If you're a fan and you're afraid of buying this set 'cause of the bad reviews, take a chance and decide for yourself--it's cheaper than her other DVD sets and I didn't expect to like it AT ALL, but what can I say? It grew on me! Like fungus.
