Movie Review: Cuddle Up and Grab Some Kleenex

I'd never even heard of "Brigadoon" until I was part of the cast of a community theatre production of it in Tacoma, Washington back in 1962 and it has been one of my very favorite shows ever since. An absolutely PERFECT love story with a touch of science-fiction and wonderful music --- what more can I say? Gene Kelly's dancing is always great to watch; he makes it look so easy! Not much in the way of special features, though, since they didn't think of such things way back then. Still, for the price, and the fact that this is a movie musical "classic", purchasing this DVD is truly a no-brainer.Movie Review: One of my favorites

If you love musicals as much as I do, this will become one of your favorites too. This is one of the most romantic stories I believe I have ever watched. What makes this DVD special are the "Special Features" which includes 3 outtakes, one of which is a dance number that was left out of the final product. It is so beautiful you have to wonder why it was not included. Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse, what more can you say? And this was one of Van Johnson's best roles. "Everyone needs a Brigadoon", according to Mr. Lundie (the schoolmaster). If you have an ounce of romance in your body, you will love this show. Wonderful fairy tale for adults, with old-fashioned (as in "17th Century") values. Lots of music, beautiful dancing, and some great funny scenes.
This is Gene Kelly at his best. Cyd Charisse is a perfect dancing partner as they fall in love. Watch this time and time again. You, too, will want to "go home with Bonny Jean".
Movie Review: Fun Fifties' Musical!

I enjoyed this musical more than I ever imagined. The backdrop is obviously painted, but after a few minutes one doesn't even notice it anymore. The songs are charming and the dancing is lovely. Especially the ballet with the two leads. There are a lot of traditional Scottish elements in the story. With the main theme of the story being a love story. Overall it is delightful and one finishes the movie feeling like singing and dancing away!Movie Review: Magical Little Town

This is a wonderful tale of a little town in Scotland that was placed under a magical spell - it only comes to life one day every 100 years. That way, it stays safe and protected from the rest of the world....the only problem is, no one can ever leave. But that doesn't stop people from coming in - and when Gene Kelly arrives, you get lots of great dancing and great songs. An all-around beautiful love story that spans ages and ages!
