Movie Reviews of Breaker MorantMovie Review: Potent and Moving Courtroom Drama! Summary: 5 Stars
This beautifully filmed Australian film is a rare treat. While less than 2 hours long, the movie manages to present us with perfectly drawn characters and exciting flashback sequences that unfold the story in a very unique and entertaining way. Powerhouse performances by all the cast and the scenery is beautiful. The real-life story is captivating. The film is profoundly moving, beautifully photographed, expertly written and masterfully performed. One of the best (if not the best) Australian films of all time. From a scale of 1-10 I give this film a 9!
Movie Review: If only I could leave 20 stars... Summary: 5 Stars
Every review so far has nailed this thing down as the brillaint film that it is.I don't care to just repeat what has been said, so here's something I think some people overlook. Whether intended or not (I can't decide) this movie is in fact one of the best Vietnam films ever made. I think I'll leave it at that. I'm not trying to be too intellectual here, but I have to think that you'll either agree with me wholeheartedly or quickly dismiss that comment as having come from the mouth (keyboard) of a fool. Guess what? I'm not a fool.
Movie Review: Precision English Acting! Summary: 5 Stars
This movie ranks as one of my favorite movies of all time. Woodward's portrayal of Harry Morant is a masterpiece. It is all the more amazing in that it is based on a story hidden until long after the youngest of the officers involved died of natural causes. The movie showcases some fine talent in Bryan Brown and Jack Thompson as the defense attorney who shows up the British imperialist for what they are. This is an excellent movie worthy of anyone's collection.

Movie Review: For pity's sake, don't shoot them! Summary: 5 Stars
A gripping tale of a true event in the Great Anglo-Boer war which brings out the difficult task of fighting insurgencies while appeasing world opinion. The men in this tale are good men caught between orders and duty and the intrigues of politics larger than themselves. The end leaves you with the sense of loss and utter futility of war. One of the best movies of its kind - the acting is wonderful, the scenery is bleak and forboading, the backdrop of "the Breaker's" poetry is emotionally stirring.
Movie Review: Breaker Morant Summary: 5 Stars
One of the high points in Australian cinema, Beresford's devastating film recounts the true story of Australian soldiers martyred for political expediency. Accurately depicting the injustice visited upon these three "colonials" by their British commanders, "Morant" is also a magnificent character study. Thompson is terrific as the lawyer who defends the men, but Woodward's resonant, heart-rending performance in the title role is reason enough to see this stunning film.
