Movie Reviews of Brainy Baby - Spanish

Movie Review: boring and slow
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this dvd for my 2 year old niece. Although she seemed to enjoy it, I don't believe she retained anything from this (and we speak Spanish). And it was annoying for everyone else. Its basically just seeing the shot of an image and hearing the word pronounced. Save your money and buy a book of basic vocabulary

Movie Review: Baby loves....123 Cuéntame un cuento
Summary: 2 Stars

We are a hispanic family living in the US. When my baby was born, I received this DVD as a present, together with another one called 123 Cuéntame un cuento. My baby likes Brany Baby... but he LOVES 123 Cuéntame un Cuento. 123 Cuentame un Cuento

Movie Review: My Little Boy was Bored
Summary: 2 Stars

I tried this with my little boy but he was so bored. He's not against educational videos and loves his Leap Frog and Sesame Street videos, but this just didn't catch and hold his attention.

Movie Review: For older children
Summary: 2 Stars

Bought this for my 18 month old. He has no interest, would rather watch Plaza Sesamo (sesame street) or the Cantarima series. This is toward older children I assume.

Movie Review: A Disapointment
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this DVD for my 18 month old child particularly because I am a native speaker of Spanish and I want my child to learn my language. This DVD is intended for children who are not learning Spanish as a native language, and that may be the reason why my child found it boring and walked away after two minutes the four times I tried to show him the DVD. The DVD is basically a repetition of vocabulary words time after time after time, I do not see how any child woud get interested in watching it.
The speaker has a close to native fluency and pronunciation in Spanish but she IS NOT a native speaker. The part of the DVD where a story is read has the text in Spanish written at the bottom of the pictures and the text is missing several accent marks and all question and exclamation marks at the beginning of questions an exclamations. I know the intended viewers of this DVD are 2 to 5 year olds who in most cases do not know how to read yet but that does not justify having errors like those.
In other words, I would not recommend this video to anyone with children who are learning Spanish as a native language and I do not think it is worthwhile the buy for those with children who are learning any other language at home.
