Movie Reviews of Boy Culture

Movie Review: Sweet and Sexy!!!
Summary: 4 Stars

I just LOVED IT!!! Derek Magyar is simply wonderful in the part of "X", not to mention steaming hot. The story has a good plot and it's well constructed. The first person narrative, the style are magnificent. Wholeheartedly recommend it to everybody.

Why not the five stars? Well, these are my remarks on the flaws: 1.- The sound on the feature reeks at times. No, it is not a failure of the DVD, but a failure on how the movie was shot. 2.- There's a scene about a Virgin Mary that, honestly, just don't tie up with the rest of the story. 3.- Does "X" has "tricks"? Yes-no, no-yes. That's a HUGE screenscript mistake that is repeated several times in the narrative. 4.- There are a few scenes where the actor playing "Joey" is too "stiff". He's supposed to be a queer, not an Ayn Rand robot.

Other than that, MAGNIFICENT!!

Oh, if you are looking for sex scenes, nice, explicit and lenghty, this is not your movie.

Movie Review: One of the Best
Summary: 4 Stars

This is one of the best (male) gay oriented films I've ever seen. The lead character, the prostitute, his appeal escapes me sometimes - since so much of the film hinges upon this appeal - but other times he totally pulls me in. It helps the actor has exceptionally beautiful eyes. The other leads, a famed European actor, and a young actor who has the lead role in the LOGO series NOAH'S ARK, are both good, and have compelling character arcs. So does a nymphette type, male variety, in the youngest of the roommates, who has - let's say - an open door policy. There is drama, romance, resistance to romance and all the obligations that entails, and also humor. Plus some mystery and basically the story of a new type of family. Too bad more use couldn't have been made of its Seattle based location, however.

Movie Review: More than honorable mention!
Summary: 4 Stars

I'll keep it to the point. If you'r looking for XXX scenes, it's not here. If you're looking for a good movie, yeah, this is one. A not unbelievable gay scenerio, very easily people are living a close resemblance to the movie's plot. I liked it. Would be a good "cuddle" movie. My favorite character was Joey of course....HAWT little thing...even got to see his butt... But, yeah....I'd recommend this movie. I think Gregory was a +++ to the entire movie.

Movie Review: Awesome Movie
Summary: 4 Stars

I really liked this movie. The actors are hot, and the story goes beyond your typical coming of age story that fills the plot of most modern gay movies. I read the book before I watched the movie, and even though the book was better (as it typically is), this movie did the book justice. The main character, X, was very similar to how he was portrayed in the book. The only thing I wish there was more of with this movie is shirtless, hot sex scenes :)

Movie Review: No frontal nudity
Summary: 4 Stars

Do not buy this film if you are looking for anything even remotely sexually graphic: there is no full frontal nudity. However, the film is very well made with interesting characters. The story is very similar to Queer as Folk, except that the "Brian" type of character is a hustler; there is a similar under aged roommate infatuated with the main character; and there is a comparable, cool, contemporary, urban gay lifestyle. Definitely worth a look.
