Movie Reviews of Bottle RocketMovie Review: A humorous, heart-warming surprise Summary: 5 Stars
I had no idea what I was getting in to when I purchased this DVD prior to viewing (as I often do); I was just excited to find another movie with both the talented Wilson brothers. The humor, as typical for Owen, is understated and clever. The twist may have been predictable if you are looking for one, but viewing the film with the abandon with which indie films are usually created allows for more enjoyment of the film. The development of the characters in the way they are similar and at the same time uniquely different adds to the appeal of the film. Not a profound or moving film in the life-questioning, verging on depressing nature of many of my favorite indie films, but pleasantly uplifting in the way the characters portray a dedicated belief in their ideals, no matter the level of their seeming importance to others.
Movie Review: Why do you have tape on your nose?...Exactlly Summary: 5 Stars
I always saw this movie when I went to the video store and I always said I would see it later. Until I saw the trailer for Rushmore, and then I rented it and watched it with my roomates and it has now become a cult hit among my college. The music, the witty dialouge, the great cinematography all made this a explosion of beauty. The DVD has no extra settings, which is a shame due to the fact that I want to see just how the Wilson bros. and Anderson made it on the budget they had. I just feel sorry for people who don't get this movie, I like farts jokes like the next person, but if you do not get the Star, X ,and Zero joke I would suggest buying a book from Amazon once and a while. I got to go, I'm on the run from Johnny law...ain't no trip to Cleveland!
Movie Review: GOOD FUN Summary: 5 Stars
This is the kind of film that will most likely be a hit or miss with people. People who enjoy typical Hollywood movies probably will not like this film.
Certainly one has to be accustomed to some of the odd subtle humour. However, even asides from that, this movie has a lot to offer. The movie has many underlying themes, such as the cost of friendship, and living ones dreams.
Coupled with an excellent storyline, the characterizations are excellent. Particularly Owen Willson who plays a determined aspiring thief, which you learn the cause later on. My one complaint is the love story. While touching it has its cheesy moments.
I can go on about this movie, but I dont want to spoil any of it. Just get this movie and watch it.
Movie Review: A Great Begining Summary: 5 Stars
Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson wrote and directed three of my favorite movies. I love their comedic prospective along with great plots. They pick the best actors the play characters. I had watched Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums before watching Bottle Rocket. It was just as good considering the amount of money they had for making the movie. If you are a fan of witty comedy watch this movie and then watch his other two films found on the Criterion Collection. There is so much to say about this movie. Rent it or buy it. Buying it may be a mistake. Bottle Rocket will get the special edition make over. It will be released containing the special feature found on his other two releases with Criterion Collection. Plan and simple its a must see.
Movie Review: One of the funniest films of all time Summary: 5 Stars
"Bottle Rocket" is not for everyone. The somewhat subtle and laidback humor of this film could move right over the heads of some audience members. But as for me (and for many others), I can honestly say this is one of the funniest and most amusing films ever made. Part of what makes this film so comical is the fact that it doesn't altogether seem like a film, just as the actors don't seem to be doing much acting. It seems more like you're watching real people in real situations that just happen to be hysterical. "Bottle Rocket" is impossible to compare with any other film. "Bottle Rocket" is fun, fresh, and immensely entertaining, and, chances are, it only gets better the more times you watch it.
