Movie Reviews of Bonnie and Clyde

Movie Review: The most classic of classic movies
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my favorite film of all time, and for good reason. Watching it again today, I realized that there is not one scene in Bonnie and Clyde that could have been cut. Every single scene is essential for character or plot development. This movie does not spell things out for you; it shows you things and lets you draw your own conclusions. Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty's performances are simply incredible; so are everyone else's. There is not one bad actor in the batch, not even among the extras. The film has an authentic look: apparently it was filmed in towns where the real Bonnie and Clyde visited some thirty years earlier. Criminals can feel and love and laugh and hurt too, just as much as any law-abiding person, and this movie will remind you of that. You will be as frustrated with Blanche as Bonnie is; you will grin tolerantly at Buck's milk joke; you will gasp at the carnage and feel your heart soften at the naive sweetness of C.W. Moss.

This is a must-see movie for anyone who enjoys good acting, plotting, filming, editing, scripting, music and scenery. One of the best films ever made.

Movie Review: The Bonnie & Clyde Death Car .... and a French Booknote
Summary: 5 Stars

I've seen this film countless times. It's a true cinematic masterpiece. Flawlessly directed. Superbly acted. A must buy for repeated viewing.
You probably knew this already. But did you know that the Bonnie & Clyde 'death car' (the real one) is on display, along with (among other items) the blue shirt, riddled with bullet holes, that Clyde wore at the time of the ambush? The car is at Primm Valley Resort & Casino, located on I-15 in Primm, Nevada at the California border. (See photo at http://www.primmvalleyresorts.com/images/attractions/pv_bandc_collection_photo.jpg)
There is no charge to see the exhibit. A televised documentary tells the true story of Bonnie & Clyde, and includes a number of interviews with witnesses and relatives.
Speaking of the historic Bonnie & Clyde, I'm sure there are any number of good books on their true life. I happen to have read a French book that is available through alapage.com entitled "Bonnie Parker et Clyde Barrow: Les Amants Terribles," by Frederic Perroud, published in 1999 by Acropole. The French have a thing for ill-fated lovers!

Movie Review: It's so bloodly it's lovely.
Summary: 5 Stars

Bonnie and Clyde is the kind of film that has so much power and raw emotion behind it you would have to be dead not to want to own this film. This film glamourizes violence and in some sick twisted way through all the blood shed and violent behavior the The notorious Barrow gang is so enchanting that you too will want to join them in their escapades! ...This film never slows down, it takes you on a elevator ride from the floor of sex to the floor of violence to the floor of desperation and up and down and up again! The entire cast is game which turns the film into a kind of farce about violence and freedom. The stark images of blood seems to only paint the film with an extra layer power. The final scene and ultimate betrayl committed upon Bonnie and Clyde is a rush of pure raw violence and never once is it overdone or excessive. Few films leave such a deep mark in pop culture, if you wanna see the film that made Blade Runner, The Matrix or any other film that uses violence as an emotion, plot device or visual texture possible, due yourself the ultimate favor and own this masterpiece.

Movie Review: We Rob Banks!
Summary: 5 Stars

To me, the best film of 1967 (above the other landmark film of that year, The Graduate), and one of the most startling films ever made. I think that the "modern era" of moviemaking begins with Bonnie and Clyde." It's really about a "family" of bankrobbers who owe much of their success to the press; the newspapers make it seem as if they intend to terrorize every small town that has a bank to begin with. And so the Barrow gang becomes legendary during the depression, and heroes to some because they are against the government that is taking so much away from the "little people." Although much praised, "Bonnie and Clyde" was controversial in its day, partly because of the considerable bloodshed and partly because audiences felt bad for the two criminals. As one character says, "they're just a bunch of kids!" This is one of the rare films in which the violence punctuates the story--it makes the viewing experience more powerful. Because of it, one watches much of the film in a state of apprehension.

Movie Review: Hoodlum Punks That got what they Deserved.
Summary: 5 Stars

These words written above according to my Dad. I was a 15 year-old when this film came out. I recall heading out the door one saturday afternoon in Chicago (1968). My Dad asked where I was heading. I said to the Biograph to see Bonnie and Clyde with my chum Bob. He told me to sit down while he called Bobs Dad. I heard him say "Do you know your son and my son are going to see that movie concerning Bonnie and Clyde? No? I did not think you knew.....yes it's about time we put our foot down on this nonsense. Goody-day."
He said he recalled the real bonnie and clyde. They were "Hillbilly punks that joy-killed and got what they deserved." (But to him and many other Chicagoans John Dillinger was a folk hero, and Al Capone was a misunderstood criminal that only hurt other gangsters.)
I saw the movie about a week later anyway and loved it. I did not grow-up to become a robber of gas stations or banks or break any laws that I know of. I still love the film. Is it camp or serious? Jim C. DeKalb, Illinois
