Movie Reviews of Blue's Clues - Classic Clues

Movie Review: Great older episodes! Where can I find more Steve episodes??!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a fabulous DVD of some classic Blue's Clues. I have only recently discovered BC with my 22 month old, and he simply loves the format of this show. Steve Burns is such a natural -- his facial expressions are expressive and priceless (even winking at the parents at times) and he just grabs my little guy's attention. We love the reliable "characters" and the pawprint clues and "handy dandy notebook".

I'm not keen on too many children's shows other than Sesame Street (the ultimate classic), but this is an amazing DVD of some great BC episodes. HOWEVER, the newer episodes with Joe simply don't have the same feel. I don't blame Joe, he's just not as natural in the part and my son picks up on that. He constantly asks: "Steve? Where?" Also, the newer episodes don't follow the same tried and true format -- there are new "bells and whistles" that don't really captivate or engage the children as well. We simply want more of the older episodes with Steve! Is there ANYBODY out there who knows where I can find more episodes with Steve Burns, or which episodes they are?
THANKS!

Movie Review: Steve is the Best
Summary: 5 Stars

My son who is almost two years old is in love with Blue and with Steve. I can't rate this DVD high enough. Steve is so genuine and engaging that he is totally convincing in the role. (We also have one of the newer videos with Joe, and my son covers his eyes and cries whenever Joe is on.) These original, "Classic" Blue's Clues are sheer perfection. I feel like my son is actually being exposed to something valuable and educational when he watches these. And he clearly finds them highly entertaining. I can not recommend Blue's Room (complete nonscence) or the newer Blue's Clues with Joe (they added bells and whistles to the format and it is not as good). I agree completely with the other reviewer who stated that they should release more episodes of the original Blue's Clues with Steve as the host.

Movie Review: Steve does it again
Summary: 5 Stars

The DVD contains 2 never before seen on TV episodes and 2 bonus episodes that are not on the VHS. These episodes have inspired my son to get clean socks out of his sock drawer and make sock puppets. There are at least 2 episodes that involve sock puppets. He thinks sock puppets are the funniest thing around, so after watching an episode, you could do a craft with your child and make sock puppets. THere is a pizza making episode. There is also an episode that hinted that Steves character was leaving "you know, one day I want to go to COLLEGE!" A little upset that that one never aired. anyway, this one is longer than any of the VHS'. It's 2 hrs. long and it has an option so you don't have to watch the annoying coming attractions.

Movie Review: Buuuuue! Buuuuue!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this DVD 5 months ago for our then 19 month old son. It's become the most requested video in our home and I'm constantly bombarded with chants of "Buuue!Buuue!Buuue!" at any given hour of the day. All four of the episodes contained in this DVD are clever, engaging and very entertaining, not to mention filled with fun little ditties that stick in your head. My wife and I are both finding that we now sing "On The Bus" (I'm lookin' out the window/ Drivin' down the street....) each time we pass one on the road; a very catchy little tune, indeed! Steve Burns is so natural and is a sheer joy to watch - wish he were still on the program. We love this video and can't recommend it enough!

Movie Review: Classic Steve
Summary: 5 Stars

My 2yr old just got into Blue's Clues and doesn't prefer Steve over Joe as far as we can tell but as parents we prefer Steve. His shows are a different pace and he has a more scholastic way of interacting with kids it seems. No offense to Joe, he's a great performer too and the 2yr old is just as engaged with him, but Steve's rythm was consistent on virtually every episode for the years he did the show.

This DVD is all Steve so if your a Joe fan you won't find him. After several searches and reading several reviews this one seems to be the only DVD which offers Steve exclusively. As for content all the episodes are educational and engaging so really can't go wrong. Great product!
