Blood on Satan's Claw (Piers Haggard, 1971)

Overacted, underdirected seventies exploitation trash. I'd call it "plotless", but after reading a number of interviews and listening to a lot of commentary, I have come to realize there was a plot-- but either the movie is so badly-directed or was so badly cut by the censors (though I understand the version I watched was restored) that the plot was impossible to understand without the supplementary material.

In any case, it's about a 17th-century village in which people start coming down with a disease they call Satan's skin (the original title of the film). Meanwhile, a group of the village's children are falling under the spell of Angel Blake (Linda Hayden), a local girl who seems to be a rather powerful witch. Arrayed against the forces of darkness are a small band of the faithful presided over by the Judge (Patrick Wymark). There's a lot more to it than that, but if you can't figure it out from the movie (and you won't be able to), I'm not going to help you. Besides, you don't need help figuring the movie out, you need help avoiding it, which is what I'm trying to give you here. It gets a single star for some wonderfully gratuitous nudity. *
