Movie Reviews of Blood - The Last VampireMovie Review: Fantastic Thriller! Summary: 5 Stars
Even with its somewhat brief running time, this is one of the best Anime I have ever seen. The characters were intense and believable, the story was simple, but incredibly effective, and the music is absolutely amazing. The story, focusing on a seemingly minor battle in a war against Vampires takes place on an American Air Force base in Japan circa 1966. One of the things I really appreciate about this movie is that it made the Vampires seem scary and violent. This, of course, is quite a departure from how Vampires appear in most modern works of fiction. There was a constant air of danger surrounding the protagonists involvement with the Vampires and that made for some compelling viewing. Also, the animation itself, which was rendered digitally is astounding. I found myself constantly mesmerized by the way scenes were framed and rendered. Voice work is top notch too. I think the film was produced with English AND Japanese and the English work is not over the top as most of us have come to expect from Anime. I hope to see more work by the creators of this piece.
Movie Review: Best Animation.. ever... period. Summary: 5 Stars
This is the most brilliant looking anime, ever. It's characters feel so alive, and the atmosphere is electric. It's about a vampire hunter. Basically we are thrown into the story, and when it ends you don't even know who was your favourite character and why. The character development is kept to a minimum, but the chills and eerie feeling you get is real. If you just got a DVD player this is an ideal movie to show off the sound and affects. I have a sneaking suspicion, that the reason other's rated the movie low was just because of the length of the movie. Most of the buyers are probably youngsters who's pocket money is precious and do not appreciate the quality of the movie because of the lack of quantity. Even I found the movie short, but what I saw excited me. It tingled my senses and it amazed me. Has to be the best animated anime.. ever. If you are expecting this movie to be short, you will enjoy it, as you will not be surprised about the lenght, only delighted with the animation and atmosphere.

Movie Review: Everyone who rated this title under a 3 is [silly] Summary: 5 Stars
Honestly, people who review this movie are expecting either a feature film to compare to something they're familiar with in the anime genre (Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, Akira...etc....). Come on people, it's literally a 50 min movie, how much plot explanation and hardcore action can you expect in 50 min without the movie making no sense at all. It'd be ridiculous. So what one has to do is regard as a part of a OVA series, or part of a series in general and accept that some things will be left for the human mind to interpret (after all as humans we were given the ability to think and contemplate), and some parts of the plot may not be fully explained (only 50 min), and the action may not kick off as much as other popular titles (ninja scroll...etc). But all in all, one must regard this film with an open mind, not expecting or comparing to other titles they've seen. Once you're able to do that, you're truly able to enjoy the film.
Movie Review: Think of it as a prelude... Summary: 5 Stars
Before I watched "Blood," my brother told me the only thing wrong with it is the length - a mere 45 minutes. And when I watched it, I could not believe that it was over, but it was. Despite its length and the fact that nothing much is explained, BECAUSE of its length I consider this a prelude of things to come. After I watched this movie, I immediately thought of this as a series - this being the clip before the opening credits. The animation is incredible and the voices work moreso than ever. And the original spin that is put on vampires is exactly that - ORIGINAL. I give it five stars because this movie should be watched by all who are into anime. With keeping an open mind that this will not be the last we see of Saya (the main character in "Blood"), you will see that this movie ranks among the very best.
