Movie Reviews of Blood - The Last Vampire

Movie Review: It Gets Better With Age
Summary: 5 Stars

Blood The Last Vampire has a very simple back-story and that's a young girl named Saya who is a vampire slaying demons to help save humanity. Saya works with a secret organization to help stop the demon vampires from eating us humans, already it sounds like Blade and Hellsing but this girl has a much different style. She uses a Katana but it is showing it can't withstand the thick layer of skin on the demons so Saya is in for even tougher battles until her partners get her new one. Saya goes undercover at a school to find the demons that are hiding and boy do they show their faces.

I first saw Blood like 2 years ago and I have to admit I was very disappointed. Blood is amazing no matter how put it but you get mad because it doesn't continue and your stuck at the end wondering about everything. You want to know so badly but you don't. Really that's just good writing, now everyone's mouth is watering for the sequel. I bet when Blood Plus finally releases that more people will enjoy this and have a greater appreciation for this one. I understand where a lot of viewers are coming from because not long ago I wrote a review giving Blood a lower rating than it deserved but over time I see it for what it really is. If your a person who's thinking about buying this DVD but your not sure because of semi negative reviews then I'll say this to help push you to get it. If Blood is bad then why are people so hyped for its sequel?

Blood was not poorly done in any way and it is actually a perfect anime mini movie but it was done in the directors and writers vision. I will admit that I too was ticked off like a lot of other viewers because the first time you see it you do feel like something's missing but your also amazed at how beautiful the dark animation is and how well done the voice acting is. Look, nothing is perfect right? And nobody is going to agree with everyone's opinion but Blood The Last Vampire is a decent and underrated anime but it is long overdue for it to stop being judged by its length. Hopefully Blood Plus will hush the doubts about this movie and put it in its rightful place as a classic.

Movie Review: Brilliant, amazing, spetacular,
Summary: 5 Stars

The first thing i noticed when watching this was the sound, from the first scene on the train you can see what kind of amazing sound quality and thrills awaited as saya stepped off the train.
Many people complain this film was too short, i agree, but not in the 'this film sucks because it is too short' way. There have been many films that have been short in length yet deep in every other aspect, and this is one of those films.
there is little back story to the characters and information is dripped through slowly. But that is one of the parts that make this such a brilliant film. The storyline is not handed to you on a silver platter, you must peive together bits of information and decide for yourself what you think is the true meaning of his film.
Now onto the animation quality, and its in an entire league of its own. There have been many animation productions which combined computer graphics with polished anime but none have surpassed the seamless blending and amazing graphics of Blood: the last vampire. One such victim was Metropolis (hopefully spelt correctly), the graphics were amzing and the animation qulity good but the two never combined well and they just looked odd. Blood on the othr hand used intense and detailed shading and lighting effects to create an almost imaculate mix of computer graphics and anime.
Overall i was morew than happy with hthis film. Those looking for an indepth epic will be dissapointed, yet revived when they realise the masterpeice this film is. This is one of those films where you must have a sequel, it was like the matrix when neo became the one and so many new directions for the story to steer towards awoke. All i can do is hope the geniuses who created this have enough courage to take up the muse and pen and create another amazing sequel.

In short, read the review title.

Movie Review: An anime lover MUST BUY THIS!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

When I first heard of this anime, i was a little sceptical about the computer animation mixed in with regular anime. But when my art instructor told me to sit down and watch the first minute of it- it was like anime heaven.
Unlike Blue Sub 6, the computer animation blended in EXACTLY with the anime- making it almost life like and extremely stunning. The plot is a little confusing at some points but all together this is on my top ten list of best animes. The only thing you really want more of in this movie afterwards, is exactly that- MORE. YOU MUST HAVE MORE. Even the director for Titanic commented on how breathtaking and incredible this anime was.
I ordered it off amazon almost immediatly after i returned Blood back to my instructor. The fight scenes start at one point and DONT STOP. There is no sex or anything, just extreme violence, gore, blood, vampires, corpses, stuff like that. But not so much that you are throwing up or anything. Just enough for it to be realistic. There's even a little humor and vampire slapstick!!
Now I watch this at least biweekly just to remember what to expect from new animes that people REALLY work hard on.
The main reason i like it is because of this: it is a vampire/samurai/horror/mystery/military ops/eat-your-heart-out-wes-craven/ALL AROUND AWESOME anime. BUT IT and you will ENJOY!

Movie Review: Fantastic independent short film
Summary: 5 Stars

This is not an anime in the traditional sense. It feels much more like an independent short film...which is exactly what it is. I tend to do my research before watching a film. I went into this one knowing that it was an independent "experiment" and only 48 minutes long. Knowing that, I viewed it as I would any other independent short film - with an open mind, not expecting a hollywood-style epic, but a brief, creative experience. I was not disappointed. Blood: The Last Vampire immerses the viewer immediately into the mysterious, dark and very serious world of Saya, the organization she serves and the creatures she hunts. With interesting premise, stunning visuals, a great soundtrack and an interesting setting, the creators of this film had my attention from the first scene. During our short exposure to Saya, it becomes evident that she has an extensive and dark past, which immediately casts her as a deep and intriguing character. This is regardless of the fact that very little is ever revealed about her. The creators immerse the viewer briefly into this very dark and creepy world, made even more creepy by the contrast of Saya's apparent youth and femininity with her seriously foreboding personality and deadly, obviously super-human skills. In short, this film is much more "show" and much less "tell", and I give it lots of kudos as an independent work of art.

Movie Review: short, sweet and to the point
Summary: 5 Stars

A lot of people have complained that this movie is too short. I'll admit, that if I had sat down and expected a full length animated feature, I might have been disappointed too. After all we only get half a feature. However, once you have been warned, that it's only gonna be 45 minutes, Blood can be thoroughly enjoyed on many levels. The animation is of course out of this world. The universe and moods they have created with their use of colour is astounding and this is one of the few cartoons you can watch at night and really feel the hairs at the back of your neck stand on end. It's quite spooky. But it's also very well-written and worth watching many times (I've seen it 10 times since I got it, and I'm not tired of it yet). I don't think that it's length is a bad thing at all, since we're left with a bunch of unanswered questions in the end anyway. Had the movie been longer, I for one might have been annoyed that we don't get more answers, but because it's a shorter film we are warned that what we get is a slice of this universe. Just a little taste of blood without knowing what came before or after. Plenty of room to play with the characters in the sequel. All in all I guess the film can be compaired to an episode of the X-files. A small part of a bigger hole. One tiny truth at a time. Only 10 times scarrier and 100 times more impressive!
