Movie Review: So entangled and so funnily excessive

Jealousy, affairs and counter affairs, private eyes and sleuth, fishing and phishing in the private life of other people, the Coen Brothers are at it again. It was obvious the cuckold was not supposed to hire the private eye to eliminate his spouse and her lover. It was obvious too the lover was not supposed to get back to the bar of the cuckold, find the dead body - but was he dead really - and then get rid of it in some field, a live burial mind you. It was obvious the private eye should not have forgotten his lighter in the office of the cuckold bar owner because that could only cause the death of an innocent, well, an innocent, way of speaking for a cuckold maker - isn't it what they call coveting the wife of your neighbor in some sacred books? - in the most spectacular way possible. In the same way that the lighter will put the sleuth on the tracks of the lady of the tale and there the Coen Brothers are going to be best of them all and it is the most un-innocent and guilty man who will finally pay - the hard way - the bill of that adulteress. And what's more she will be the boss of the bar where there is another bar tender that may interest her, especially since he is slightly black, a change from all her Caucasian affairs. Perfect conclusion for a Machiavellian machination.

Movie Review: One of my favorite movies!

Blood Simple is a fantastic piece of cinematic art. The Coen Brothers first movie. It has the same quality and uniqueness of their later films. The story line is actually very basic. Woman in loveless marriage cheats on her husband. He finds out and hires someone to kill her. It has been done in so many film noir movies over the years. What truley takes this movie over the top is symbolism and irony that the Coen brothers do so well.Movie Review: Cohen Bros. 1st / Most Original Story

This early 1980s film started the Coen brothers journey into one of the best filmmaking teams ever.
I have been wanting to see this movie for a long time and was happy I landed on this copy. While it is a good transfer to DVD, some of the others who commented on this said many scenes were deleted from the original. Since it was my first time to view this, I loved it and was totally impressed, now I want to see the original in its entirety.
The Coen brothers always add a sense of "weirdness" to their films, making them totally unique. This one will keep you interested also. I rate this my third favorite Coen brothers film behind No Country for Old Men and Fargo.
The movie has its gore and very well done.
Briefly, a Texas bar owner, Marty (Dan Hedaya) suspects his wife, Aby (Frances McDormand) is cheating on him and hires a seedy private detective (M. Emmett Walsh) to follow her. Aby is discovered to be playing around with one of Marty's employees, Ray (John Getz). After getting this news, he rehires the seedy gumshoe to kill his wife and her lover. The detective turns on Marty and the gore and horror commence.
If you like Coen brothers' films, you'll love this one, if you like horror, gore and suspense this is definitely for you, and they always add a bit of comedy to their films, enjoy...Now I want to see the original copy without all the deleted scenes.
