Movie Reviews of Bleak HouseMovie Review: DVD has ads and trailers at beginning Summary: 3 Stars
The TV series is superb but I have a serious complaint with the DVDs. Each one has 30 seconds of unskippable material (FBI warning, WB logo, BBC logo) and 2-3 minutes of skippable advertising at the beginning. If you don't mind this, go ahead and buy these, but I would really like to send a message to media companies that I will not pay to have my time wasted. I rarely buy DVDs, but when I do, I do so not only to own the content but also to support the production of excellent material. I had already seen the series on TV when I bought it so I purchased this only to share with others and support its makers. But when I find I have been tricked into buying promotional material I lose much respect for the producers, distribution company, or whoever was responsible for this blunder. DVDs are not cheap and they should never be made to rely on the support of advertisers. This is my only complaint about this product. Because of this I give three stars to an otherwise five star-worthy production.
