Movie Reviews of Blast From the Past

Movie Review: Just a nice movie...
Summary: 5 Stars

OK, you can read the 128 other reviews, many of which feel compelled to tell the plot of this movie when Amazon has already done so, or you can take 60 seconds and hear my opinion for what it's worth...

This is not a complex movie, it is meant to be a funny look at the culture shock Brendan Fraser gets when he emerges from 30 years in a fallout shelter into modern-day L.A. And guess what, it is funny! All the actors give fine performances, the criticism of Alicia Silverstone is unwarranted because she is SUPPOSE to be playing a whiney, self-centered, shallow Los Angelan. The cussing is necessary to prove a point, and it is kept to a minimum. All in all it is a lighthearted movie with a good ending. Sure, it may be somewhat predictible, but it is entertaining and well worth renting and buying.

OK, I asked for a minute of your life to hear my opinion, and that is it. Thanks for your time, I hope it was worth it!

Movie Review: *Sob. . .* How Sweet. . .
Summary: 5 Stars

Most movies of this genre are not supposed to be taken really seriously. They are there to make you realize that your loved one is really special. They are also there to make you realize what we have taken for-granted. Brendan Fraser's innocence to real life in this movie will make you think twice when you pass by the awe-inspiring ocean or look up into the marshmallow-filled azure sky. So don't gripe when a movie doesn't have too much chemistry between characters! YOU do the character developing in life--just use these movies as a reference! By the way, the whole swing-dancing scene is just totally awesome (even though I'm sure it's not Fraser that's really dancing). This movie gives you reason to cuddle up with your girlfriend (or boyfriend or husband or wife. . .). Fraser is just too cute!

Movie Review: Very Funny. Sweet.
Summary: 5 Stars

While *Blast From the Past* is silly in the extreme, Christopher Walken, Sissy Spacek, and Brendan Fraser turn in wonderful performances in this light-hearted, family-oriented comedy. Fraser delightfully and convincingly portrays Adam's innocence and sense of wonder although it is really Christopher Walken and Sissy Spacek who make the movie as Adam's old-fashioned and loving parents. In addition, the movie is also filled with wonderful and quirky bit characters whom full credit should be given to for many of the movies most amusing moments. Alicia Silverstone turns in a decent performance and is not miscast so much as she is misdirected and under-written.

Movie Review: A fun way to waste 90 minutes
Summary: 5 Stars

Without Sissy Spacek and Christopher Walken as the parents, this movie would not have been anywhere near as funny as it is. In the beginning, Spacek and Walken, eccentric in their own ways, take a ridiculous premise and make it believable enough that you could let yourself buy into the storyline. Brendon Fraisor does a decent turn as the son, though his acting verges on a one dimensional note. Alicia Silverstone does the cute love ineterest well enough, but her performance is not as entertaining as in clueless. These is an exceedlingly likeable film with likeable characters, and where even the ex-boyfriend isn't that bad. A fun movie!
