Movie Reviews of Black Hawk Down [Blu-ray]

Movie Review: Very good movie
Summary: 5 Stars

As the commentator who knows how to assess evidence of war films (and narratives: cf. Listmania on my list "Vietnam War"), modern (ie from the Vietnam War) and ancient (World War II ), I loved this film.

The territory of the conflict that is still relevant to tribal rivalries against the backdrop of Islamism and corruption. The UN mandate in Somalia has unfortunately not changed the situation.

The deployment of American forces is typical of those used in current conflicts (Iraq for example) with this spirit of superiority owned by the youth: little culture, a humanistic vision and invincibility. This vision will be shocked.

The solidarity of brothers in arms is clear and honor is given to the two Delta Group NCOs Master Sgt. Gary Ivan Gordon and Sgt. First Class Randy Shughart ( see http://www.history.army.mil/html/moh/somalia.html) who sacrificed their lives to save a helicopter pilot wounded. They received the Medal of Honor by the US Congress.

Very good movie.

Movie Review: "We are not War junkies"
Summary: 5 Stars

With the great story telling of that fateful day in 1993, what I got out of it is definitely the "No Man gets Left Behind" message, and conveying home to those that don't believe in the war but follow-up harassing the soldiers in the front line. So much appreciation and admiration to those that not only fought, but keep going back to help until everyone is home.

I'm not in military, nor have any family member affiliated with the military. So I can only judge as someone feel being protected by these brave folks. So this movie was an eye opener - same or more so than Saving Private Ryan.

The blu-ray pictures are pretty good quality for blu-ray standards. Sound effect is quite good as well foot steps and flying bullets can be felt with a good home theater setup.

Movie Review: Blu-ray release really shines
Summary: 5 Stars

This release should end once and for all the speculation that Blu-ray has inherent inferiority to HD-DVD. The resolution, lack of artifacts, contrast, black levels, and color depth are amazing compared with stardard DVD (which I also have).

And the sound is something you really have to experience for yourself. HD-DTS 5.1 is jaw-dropping if you have a system that supports it, and has the power to drive a good set of HT speakers. I have Martin-Logan's coupled with a Denon AVR-2807, plus a Sunfire True-Subwoofer (2700 watts!). If you have a good system, give it a workout with this disc!

Great Blu-ray disc--add it to your collection. You won't be sorry.

Movie Review: Black Hawk Down is a winner!
Summary: 5 Stars

The movie Black Hawk Down, which follows the Army Rangers and Delta Forces the Clinton Administration left in Mogadishu, Somalia, in the 1990s. Based on true events, the movie retells the horrific events that led to the US military's most embarrassing and violent battle of that decade. The film is incredible in every aspect, including the cast, the production, the realistic environments and the enthralling battles. Everything looks spectacular in Blu-Ray high definition, especially the battles. This movie is not only an incredible one to watch, but also is of important significance to the American people and ought to be watched.

Movie Review: Excellent Blu-Ray Transfer. One of the best.
Summary: 5 Stars

I have about twenty blu-ray titles now and I have to say that this particular transfer has got to be the best that I've seen. Super clear, super sharp. You can see the specks of individual dust particles in the streets, the pores in the character's faces, beads of sweat on skin before it gets big enough to role down... It was like I was looking through a 46-inch window into a live action scene!

The quality of the transfer from film to blu-ray in this movie will show you the power of 1080p in all it's stunning glory and make you a believer.

And oh, the movie isn't too bad either... ;)
