Movie Reviews of Birthday GirlMovie Review: Happy Birthday? Summary: 4 Stars
What happens when a run-of-the mill fellow who has a run-of-the mill average life as a run-of-the mill banker chooses to have a mail order bride from Russia? What happens when she ends up looking like Nicole Kidman? What happens if she IS Nicole Kidman?Well, therein lies the premise of the plot. However, it does get a bit more interesting than just that. Our poor naive banker is about to have his life disrupted in ways he'd never thought possible, and we have the obnoxious pleasure of watching everything come unraveled. Much of the plot is fairly predictable. It is unfortunate that the banker is the only one who is entirely clueless about what's going on. Along the way there are some great laughs that center around the most unlikely of what would be considered "humorous" material. So, next time you have a birthday & have a yearning for a quasi-erotic thriller that also happens to be quite funny, give this yarn a try. After all, birthdays only come round once a year!

Movie Review: Man seeks love through mail - order 4 Stars
John (Ben Chaplin) is an insecure man in his early 30s who never had any luck with women or love. As a result, he surfs the internet for a future woman he can fall in love with and he eventually finds Nadja (Nicole Kidman), a Russian mail-order bride. On the way home from the airport he figures out that she does not speak any English at all, which leads him to attempt to get rid of her. However, she seduces him and tries her best at being a 'good' house wife and eventually he falls for her and buys her a Russian-English dictionary. One day she announces that it is her birthday and a her cousin arrives unexpectedly with a friend. Uncomfortably he tries to get to know them, but it does not work out as he expects. Birthday Girl is a humorous love story with a surprising element of deception that will keep the audience engaged with the film.
Movie Review: I Liked It but Hubby Iffy/Kidman & Chaplin good duo Summary: 4 Stars
This is quirky little film. I enjoyed it primarily because of Nicole Kidman and Ben Chaplin. Kidman has been coming more and more into her own as an actress and this performance is no exception. She is very talented and is taking very diverse roles. She and Ben Chaplin make a very attractive couple and you will find yourself rooting for them. She is a Russian internet ordered girlfriend for Chaplin. He is dismayed to discover she doesn't speak any English although she wrote him letters in English. However, her communication abilities are ample in the bedroom so he keeps her. But then her two buddies from Russia show up and suddenly Chaplin's character is facing a whole new, much more threatening situation. I like Kidman better with Chaplin than I ever liked her as Tom Cruise's costar. I think it is worth giving a try.
Movie Review: Quite amazing! Summary: 4 Stars
A decent piece of film-making here, right from the beginning you are engaged and engrossed completely in the story, the characters and every situation that occur. The characters here very genuine people like anyone or anybody, you may seem to know that lives next door. A fabulous performance from both Nicole Kidman and Ben Chaplin, their chemistry will surely engage your heart and soul to the screen. Chaplin succeeds well in portraying John, a normal regular guy whose emotions, feelings are exposed to us all, we know when we feel happy as well as sad for him. The film is very fast-paced and the flow of the story is quite good. A good cast performance powered by neat direction makes the film worth watching. Watch it during a quiet rainy evening, you won't be disappointed.
