Movie Review: Slim Less Than Bionic Product
Summary: 2 Stars
Just viewed this offering from Universal. The "Extras" included are more like promos. Each extra included runs just over a minute a piece and is followed by a taunting "Bionic Woman: Wednesdays at 9". Which as we now know, is not going to happen. The show has been canceled for good and it will be a long wait for "volume 2."
Knowing this now, one would have hoped for the final episodes, up to 13, to be included in this set. But no.
As far as picture/sound quality, super sharp images, fantastic sound.
I always wish though, that the people who re-edit tv shows turned DVDs would remove the black sections where commercials would be as well as the repeated scene break.
Although I did want the show to continue, hoping it would become better, watching these episodes again, the show really did lack in action, it was too talky, the story lines were too diluted. There was more attention to the look and feel, but without any of the actual "pizazz" a show like this needs against the competition. So long BW.
...and p.s. The Pilot, is not that. It's the first episode. The actual Pilot had different actors cast playing some roles and the story was shifted a bit. One notable difference is that the character of Jaime's sister was deaf in the pilot and played by a more average-looking punk-style actress. To me, the fact that they identified the first ep as the pilot, it really should have contained both and have an director's explanation as to why changes were made. Would have been more interesting.
