Movie Review: hilarious! Crazy Bee and Woody Summary: 5 Stars
Crazy Bee and Woody are the main characters in one of the best zombie films of all time a must see.
Movie Review: Wonderfully Terrible! Summary: 4 Stars
This is not a movie that's so bad it's funny. No, every moment of camp and comedy is intentional and successful. Without a doubt this is the best campy zombie comedy I've ever seen, and, unlike many films, the trailer gives you a very good idea of what to expect. The dialogue is simultaneously well written, and intentionally terrible. The makeup is bad, and it doesn't matter in the least, actually it may add to the humor. With protagonists named Woody Invincible, and Crazy Bee, and the Sushi Boy in love transformed into a zombie in love, you can't go wrong, well... you could, but they didn't.
"What about Shaun of the Dead?" you ask. Shaun's a favorite of mine, but it's not a cheesy campy film. Plus, with Bio Zombie you get "Engrish" subtitles and bad dubbing. Actually it's dubbed well, but there's been no attempt to match it to the lips and the intentionally bad dialogue makes it like watching an old kung-fu flick. We thoroughly enjoyed watching it with the dubbing AND the Engrish subtitles for added humor. If you're looking for a campy zombie film to laugh at with your friends, this is an excellent choice.
Movie Review: What a ride. Summary: 4 Stars
DVD begins. Zombie kills some guy. Then tons of goofy non zombie related stuff happens. You forget you are even watching a zombie movie. It becomes a HK slacker comedy. You kinda get into the characters. Then all hell breaks loose. Suddenly this Abbot and Costello episode is Abbot and Costello meet Zombies, and then people start dying left and right. And this silly movie suddenly gets hardcore and turns into a real zombie movie with really silly looking FX, yet it's too late. Like how Giant Robo started of all innocent and fun and suddenly became hardcore and heartbreaking, the same happens here. Some interesting zombie ideas. Some truly funny moments. And one of the best endings I've ever seen. One of those hidden gems you'll never forget.
Movie Review: Not bad! Summary: 4 Stars
Rating out of ten...
1) Gore: 7 (less-than-graphic gore, much of it is implied. Some interesting zombie-killing techniques!)
2) Make-up: 5 (your basic grey-skinned zitty zombies in this one, nothing spectacular)
3) Effects: 7. Good blood spurts and dismemberment action, nicely done.
4) Acting: 8. I watched the dubbed version, and although the "American" voices are a bit overdone (as usual), the actors seemed capable.
Overall: 7/10. Some of the humor is Far Eastern. If you've seen a Steven Chow movie you know what I'm talking about. But that also gives you a little different color to the comedy. Not a bad little zombie film!
