Movie Review: MONSTER WAVE ACTION
Summary: 4 Stars

BILLABONG ODYSSEY (Warner Home Video) deserves a widescreen version to better capture the jaw-dropping, eye-popping, heart-pounding big wave surfing action. Billabong is Aussie slang for "pond," but the only irony here is the Zen-like comments from the men who ride these monstrous, churning, liquid mountains. Cool locations include Tahiti, Hawaii, France, Spain, the "Cortez Bank" and Australia. Fantastic big wave cinematography. One or two rides alone are worth the price of the disc. Recommended.

decent flick. the surfing is wicked but there isn't that much of it. but when you consider the $hit those guys are doing, you gotta respect it. anyways, i was wondering, do they have surf in edmonton or mississauga? Oops! I haven't seen this DVD, but feel compelled to correct the Amazon reviewer. Maverick's is off Pilar Point at Half Moon Bay. Santa Cruz is around 50 mi. south of HMB. Big distinction in the surfing world!

Has by far the sickest ride at Jaws that I have ever seen (Parsons). Overall a great movie, but wtf is Laird. You can't talk about big waves without talking about Laird.
