Movie Review: What an opportunity to learn about this Gospel Legend

Dottie Rambo is the focus of this Homecoming Friends DVD and many of the Friends are joining the celebration, singing her songs that have been recorded by many. Between the musical numbers, Bill Gaither interviews Dotty Rambo. The honors took place in 1999. Rambo died in May 2008, in a bus accident.
Some share their memories with Rambo moments, Sue Dodge, George Younce, Jake Hess. You will learn her influences, family times, and the excitement to know Whitney Houston singing her songs. The bonus feature includes an old clip of the trio "Build My Mansion Next to Jesus".
So many wonderful music is here and it is clear why Sandi Patty "We Shall Behold Him" is the last to sing. I was amazed at her vocal style and it's hard to follow that. It isn't too often that you can hear Bob Cain, but he sings "One More Valley." And, another veteran, Mary Tom Speers (Speers Family) sings "Mama's Teaching Angels How to Sing"; Jake Hess does "Too Much to Gain To Lose."
Dottie joins Vestal Goodman on "The Holy Hills of Heaven Call Me"; and she plays guitar on The Crabb Family's "Tears Will Never Stain the Streets of That City"; Sheri Easter, Larnelle Harris, Melody Tunney sing "I Go To the Rock".
The Homecoming Friends sing "He Looked Beyond My Fault" and "Holy Spirit Thou Art Welcome"; Terry Blackwood sings "Remind Me Dear Lord"
Other music "I've Never Been This Homesick Before"; "Sheltered in the Arms of God"; If That Isn't Love"; "When I Lift Up My Head", and "On the Sunny Banks".
It isn't too often that we see Dottie Rambo on the Homecoming Series, and it is a special treat to honor her music. You can learn an awful lot about the old gospel days, her writing style, her incredible number of songs she has written. She is truly a legend......Rizzo
