Movie Reviews of Big NightMovie Review: One of the best little films ever Summary: 5 Stars
This is a simple story, one about love, greed, betrayal, ambition, and how one man with a big idea - doesn't always get to live the American Dream. Fine acting, a good story, excellent period music and costumes, and featuring food that is simply to *live* for - what is there about this movie not to like? No hip soundtrack, no car chases or explosions, no violent outbreaks or profanity-laden dialogue? Well, this may not exacly be a family movie, but it is one that is good for a rent on a rainy day, or a date when it comes around to your local artsy one screen theater.
Movie Review: If you love "Top Chef" this movie is a must see event! Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is a love letter to a foodie. The storyline is compelling. The acting is stellar. But the star of the show is THE FOOD. Each course is prepared with the eye of an artist. I don't know who the food stylist was but they should have won an oscar. Stanley Tucci and Tony Shaloub make you want to find a time machine and go back to witness the "Big Night" in person. This movie would also be a great gift for any aspiring chef in your life. And yes it will make you hungry so be warned. Just thinking about it makes me want to order something Italian. Ciao.
Movie Review: More than the sum of its parts Summary: 5 Stars
This is a little movie on steroids, but it's still a little movie - and it's delightful. It's about the struggles, survival, and triumphs of the little immigrant guys to make it big in the hugely competitive world of restaurants. Two Italian brothers open a bistro in NJ that serves `real' Italian food, food for the soul, food from the old country. The chef hatches a plan to boost business that will either succeed or bankrupt him. The Big Night joins the host of other wonderful foodie genre films, such as Tortilla Soup, Dinner Rush, etc. Terrific.
Movie Review: Tucci & Shaloub at Their Best Summary: 5 Stars
A wonderful film that showcases the extraordinary talents of Stanley Tucci (younger brother "Secundo") and Tony Shaloub (older brother "Primo"). Not only is it hard to believe that they aren't Italian-born, it's hard to believe they aren't really brothers. This is an extremely well-written piece that makes you wish you were a customer in their restaurant. Order some Italian take-out, crack open a bottle of chianti classico, pop in the DVD, and enjoy!
Movie Review: If you want a GREAT time... Summary: 5 Stars
The BIG NIGHT is definitely a GREAT GREAT GREAT movie. Tony Shalhoub and Stanley Tucci are perfect together as brothers. The story is simple but it quickly draws you into their lives with all the ups and downs. The music is terrific as well. After seeing the movie I immediately bought the soundtrack. So, get a friend or two or more, put in the BIG NIGHT and get ready for a GREAT GREAT GREAT time.
