Movie Review: A Surprisingly Moving and Funny Film!
Summary: 5 Stars
The only reason I saw this movie was to see Eric Schweig. Prior to seeing it, I had no idea it was a gay film. It took me by surprise how touching the love story is. No matter how straight you are, as long as you are not homophobic, you will laugh, sigh, and get frustrated along with Henry and Pike. I personally no longer saw two guys in love, but rather two people in love. They're so adorable!The community portrayed in the film is the ideal world where no one judges the other in his/her sexual orientation. Here, senior citizens, church going members, and macho cowboys all root for these two men to get together! On top of it, these two men are of different ethnic backgrounds (Caucasian and Native American). Can there possibly be a more tolerant and ideal society as this?
It's truly a beautiful film. Recommended for gay/lesbian people (naturally), people who enjoy "chick-flicks", people who are stressed in the city and need a "time-out" by watching a relaxing and touching movie, Eric Schweig fans,etc.

Me siento obligado a unir mi voz al himno de alabanza que acompaña a esta película. Resulta de lo más refrescante encontrar una historia con protagonistas que eluden los estereotipos de belleza que con demasiada frecuencia imperan dentro de la temática gay, y que terminan siendo tanto o más hermosos que tantos semidioses epidérmicos. Aunque pueda no ser realista, lo cierto es que Big Eden (un enorme paraíso en verdad) me ha emocionado muy profundamente. La he conocido al final de una noche de poco sueño y varias preocupaciones y no sólo quedé prendado, sino que durante los últimos 45 minutos me vi forzado a remover con frecuencia mis espejuelos para que el llanto fluyera libremente. Gracias al director y a tantos buenos actores por darnos nuevos bríos para continuar la lucha diaria de liberación y encuentro con nosotros mismos. Sé que esta noche volveré a verla con igual y mayor entusiasmo.Movie Review: bottle this !!

big EDEN is unforgettable. (The bonus disc is also 5 stars.) I enjoyed every moment~ starting with Henry coming home to his loft w/cycle and cappucino, & o so pregnant Mary Margaret's hilarious scene while trying to convince Henry not to walk out on the Opening of his show. She's a gem! The spell this film casts should be bottled and distributed for free. and I have to confess, Eric Schweig is my favorite actor/dreamboat. I'll never recover from this performance! He moves deftly from a shy loner to Henry's beloved partner, and just acts from feeling the essential/simple aspects of love we all so easily race past moving from our concepts. Through Pike's eyes, we see that love can't be labeled, it's too fluent and unlimited. The entire cast shows talent and exuberance above and beyond the call. I loved the soundtrack, settings, emotional up/downs, granpa, and am jealous of Pike's dog. I'd follow him around too, if I could.Movie Review: If we could only have more Big Edens

A treasure of a movie that all should see.Movie focuses on a New York artist who must move back to Big Eden, Montana to care for his ailing grandfather. He has never been able to tell his grandfather that he is gay (grandfather raised him) and found that life in Big Eden would not fit in with his lifestyle.
What Henry finds is a open and inviting community that will bring either positive or negative reactions from viewers. Those that will find it positive are those that grew up in an area like Big Eden and those who find it negative will only find it that way because they have longed for a community like Big Eden.
The movie, although very dramatic, does have its comedic elements.
Watch this movie with parents or loved ones. This is the movie that will bridge families closer together.
I cannot say enough about this movie.
The DVD is chalk full of extras that make it a must for anyone's gay movie collection.
Movie Review: What a nice surprise..

I bought this movie on the recommendation of a friend and I'm really pleased that I bought it.First of all, the plot is really unlike any other gay movie I've seen. It's not set in the city (NY, LA, SF etc) and has zero muscleboys in the cast, but it's one of the best-cast and acted movies in a long time.
A great date movie, for sure, but also an interesting view into what life could and will be like one day in the not-so-distant future when being gay is just another part of the cultural makeup of society.
The DVD has a lot of nice bonus material including information on the production, the beautiful location used for the film's setting, the actors and the evolution of the film from idea to celluloid.
I really can't recommend this movie enough - it's not earth-shattering by any stretch of the imagination, but it has rich, well-developed characters, a beautiful setting, and a lot of heart and soul.
