Movie Reviews of Beyond the Valley of the DollsMovie Review: One of the Funniest Movies Ever. Summary: 5 Stars
This movie was rated X when it was released. Its one of those that would only get an R by today's standards. The first mistake you could make is to ever try to take this movie seriously. It is clearly Russ Meyer's best work. It was written by a young film critic named Roger Ebert. The film is filled with every type of vice you can think of. The entire film is a joke parady of serious films like "Valley of the Dolls." You will get a cartoon airplaine diving noise with an attempted suicide. Another cartoon noise with a be-heading. One overly serious situation after another. There's even a heartfelt moral of the story speech at the end. The film is a joke. You'll meet the porno star, the boxer and even Super-woman and I can tell you she's something else. It is about an all girl rock band and theres one party after another. The film contains everything: violence, sex, drugs and will certainly be quite different from anything you've seen. It was ahead of its time by even having both gay and lesbian sex. Even "Austin Powers" borows a line. "This is my happening and it freaks me out." From the music to the murderous rampage, this is one film not to miss.
