Movie Reviews of Best of the BestMovie Review: Good charcters, Great Casting and good action sequences with a story about the winning spirit Summary: 4 Stars
James Earl Jones hands down one of his better choices playing the role of the Team USA coach in this movie about the International Karate Championships. Your character was creepy, the tone of that movie was unsettling in a bad way, and the lion cloth should never be cut that short on Ah-nold.
Back to this movie, this is one my favorites because of the character development and storylines each charcter has throughout the movie. The Best of the Best has a dynamic cast, the late Chris Penn and a young Eric Roberts. This can stand as one of my favorite sports movies, like MIRACLE starring Kurt Russell about the US Olympic hockey them from the 70's that beat Russia.
The story can be predictable and cheesy but there are heartfelt moments at the end of this long journey to the top.
Movie Review: classic 80s martial arts Summary: 4 Stars
I love this movie, but I think you need a certain appreciation for this type of film. It isn't terribly original, and throughout the film you get the feeling you've 'seen this somewhere before.' You probably have. That said, the movie is still a lot of fun. Yes, it's very formulaic, but the characters are fun, and something about James Earl Jones as a taekwondo coach never ceases to make me smile. The story does well to keep you interested throughout. While not every aspect of this film might fly with serious martial artists, for the most part, it's a good, lazy Saturday type movie.
Movie Review: Great acting, amazing Martial Arts! Summary: 4 Stars
I watched this just after I started Tae Kwon Do and was surprised by the Martial accuracy. The fight scenes, thought far between, were very realistic and enjoyable. Also, the fact that the characters were all portrayed as good, morally sound Martial Artist's at the end and not ruthless, mindless fighters was a HUGE plus!! It is definitely worth the time to watch it!
Movie Review: Good classic martial art Summary: 4 Stars
If you don't like to always see fake martial arts movies then 'the best of the best' is a good choice to see some real life like fighting techniques, as three of the Korean Martial arts contenders are actually real life champions. Not that violent so you can watc it with your family
Movie Review: Entertining but not exactly the best Martial Arts film Summary: 4 Stars
The movie is pretty typical of early 90s and follows the same formula as Rocky type movies. It's a bit Cheesy and times and the main actors (other that the Asian guy) are not really martial artists and it sort of shows.
Never the less it is entertaining.
