Movie Review: Ohhhh....Cisco! Ohhhh....Pancho!

When you heard those lines, you knew the show was over. I watched this series when I was around 4 or 5 years old and didn't really recall any of the episodes from then. I do remember that I liked the show as it was always exciting and the good guys came out on top and the bad guys bit the dust.
This 3-DVD set is priced around $7.50 and if nothing else is an outstanding value. This set is titled " The Best Of The Cisco Kid" and includes 35 episodes filmed in color (supposedly the first series to be filmed in color when there were only black and white televisions) which is somewhat faded at times but fully watchable.
The plots of the series varied, of course, but basically Cisco and Pancho were always becoming involved to help the good and thwart the sinister doings of the bad guys. Even now, when I watch these shows they are interesting and have halfway believable story lines. Of course a lot of ammo is used and considerable fighting is necessary to defeat the evildoers and to exonerate the wrongfully accused or framed individuals. There is also comedy, mostly originating from Pancho due to the situations he becomes involved in. And if that isn't enough, you can watch Diablo (Cisco's horse) to see how many times his markings change in an episode. There must have been 5 or 6 Diablos used at different times, possibly to spell a tired mount after several takes of a scene.
My recommendation is to spring for the meager price of this set, and after watching I believe you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

This classic western series was the first to be filmed in color even though the majority of television sets in the country were black and white. The show presented the tales of The Cisco Kid (Duncan Renaldo) and his trusty sidekick Pancho (Leo Carrillo) as they traveled about the West coming to the aid of those in need of it.
