Movie Reviews of Berkeley SquareMovie Review: It started well... Summary: 1 Stars
I was looking for a period drama that might be relaxing... well.... this wasn't it. Plenty of drama, danger, intrigue, deceit and all the usual rot of humanity with the hope that things will improve but not much. Why it's compared to Anne Of Avonlea and Little Women? You've got me. Perhaps because our red-haired protagonist was a no-nonsense yet sweet nanny who could easily have played a U.K. Anne Shirley and I would have loved to see her do so. Everything visually and acting wise was extremely well done while the story descended from interesting to disappointingly unresolved. (This seems to be par for so much programming now.) Also there were a few big gaps that made it, on the whole, fairly unbelievable by the time you've served your soul for so many hours.
But if you love some witty dialogue, beautiful costuming, and the anti-calming balm of daytime soaps, look no further. You have your winner. It was neat to see the actor who played the dad in the unfindable "Back Home" cable movie.
