Movie Reviews of Bell, Book and CandleMovie Review: Bell, Book and Candle Summary: 5 Stars
If your doctor says you're too stressed and you need to slow down - this is the movie for you! It's slow paced, allowing you to thrill to the funishings, think about the characters involved, and muse a few private thoughts before the scene changes.
This is already the most "borrowed" film in my collection - everyone has heard of this film but only I seem to own it.
This film is a fun romp in the "so-called" realm of witchcraft which our modern witches would certainly giggle at. That aside, the clothes, the funishings, the atmospheres - all add to the wonder of watching a long list of professional actors and actresses deliver solid performances.
While this show doesn't really deliver an astounding message, there are times when we want to "relax" instead of take up causes. Bell, Book and Candle is for one of those times. That is, if a friend of yours hasn't already borrowed it off your shelf!
Yes, I do recommend this film - enjoyable fluff of the first order!
Movie Review: Kim Novak Puts You Under Her Spell Summary: 5 Stars
Jimmy Stewart suddenly finds himself in love, inescapably head over heels with his downstairs neighbor, Kim Novak. Novak runs a store that sells tribal masks and the like, she is devoted to her Persian cat and has an eccentric aunt that also resides in the building. Stewart a book publisher, engaged to marry an uptight Seven Sisters grad, breaks off with his bethrothed, for Miss Novak has put him under a spell, oh yes, she's a witch, who's just looking to live a normal life. There's her nutty brother, a warlock ( Jack Lemmon) and a self proclaimed authority on black magic and witches, played by Ernie Kovacks (a Novak and a Kovack together). I have given more of the plot away then I meant to, but I can testify to having seen this film well over thirty times and I am always beguiled by it-perhaps I am under Kim's spell too, happily.
Movie Review: Bell, Book and Candle - an offbeat Christmas movie Summary: 5 Stars
That's right, I said, "An offbeat Christmas Movie." It's a mature Jimmy Stewart with a very sexy mature Kim Novak surrounded by a great caste that includes Jack Lemon, Ernie Kovacs and other great character actors who meet on Christmas Eve and create some magic that changes their lives forever. It is a funny movie that is not at all satanic or scary or anything but good clean fun. The scene where Jimmy Stewart drinks a majic potion is priceless. There are no special effects; just Jimmy acting. It was a very funny scene. The movie ends with boy getting girl and girl loosing cat -- well you'll see. It's fall so get the movie, and watch it while you are carving a pumpkin or eating some hot freshly baked cookies shaped like a witch.
Movie Review: Magical Summary: 5 Stars
I am a cat lover. Also dabble in a little "magic" now and then. I saw this movie at least 40 years ago. The cat Pywacket" was the real star. I had a feline buddy named "Pegasus" big as a horse, gentle as a smile. And one named "Pan" after the woodland god of music and merriment. And someday I will have one called "Pywacket". She just has not showed up.......yet;-)
Fully family oriented movie. As clean as a Disney film.
People asked me about my on line handle and I bought the movie to explain. All who viewed it were magically wowed. They just don't make movies like this any more. thanks amazon.com

Movie Review: Beautiful, funny and beguiling Summary: 5 Stars
When black-clad barefoot Gillian (Kim Novak) yearns aloud to her cat/familiar (Pyewacket) for a normal Christmas around normal people, she gets more than she bargains for. When the new tenant in her building, Shep (Jimmy Stewart), falls across her path, she decides to seek a little revenge on his fiancee who was a beau-stealing, poison pen in college. Kim Novak is absolutely beautiful in this one and Jack Lemmon, as her wacky bongo playing brother fills out a perfect cast. The aunt (I can't remember her name) is wonderfully batty - probably the inspiration for Esmerelda in the Bewitched series (just my guess).
