Movie Review: Beautiful
Summary: 4 Stars
Beauty Shop is beautifully done. Yes is has racial stereotypes, sexual humor, and crude jokes. But it's a comedy so I expected that. If it were realistic then it wouldn't be nearly as funny.
Queen Latifah is everfescent in the role of Gina (I kinda like that name) and the supporting cast plays well off of her.
I especially like the fact that although Gina is a single mother, she's a widow so there was no Baby Daddy Drama or hatred. She loved her husband and was respected by her mother in law.
Watching this DVD was an enjoyable evening.

Having seen all of Latifah's movies, I wouldn't say this is her best. The plot is just a spin-off of Barbershop 1+2 and is not very strong, but Latifah shines as she does in any role. Playing Gina, the owner of the shop which is actually next door to Calvin's Barbershop, Latifah seems to be able to make what would seem the dullest of characters, the owner of a beauty shop, seem vibrant and exciting. An absolute must-see for any Queen Latifah fans.Movie Review: What a gem!

What a lovely surprise Beauty Shop turned out to be! If you like your movies sweet and funny, with a bit of street, you'll love Queen Latifah heading a great ensemble cast including Kevin Bacon as you've never seen him, Alfre Woodard as a hilarious Maya-Angelou-poetry-spouting sistah, and others. The dialogue and interplay between the hairdressers and customers and family members and friends is warm, fun, and always interesting.Movie Review: Great Family Movie

Queen Latifah puts her all into anything she does. She really shined in this production, as well as all of the other cast.
I could not get into Kevin Bacon in this type movie, But I got a lot of chuckles from this movie .
The movie was good and the actors were superb, but I wish that the parts were stronger.The movie was predictable.

I really really liked this movie. QL is great again, and there is an interesting mix of actors in it. Everyone from Golden Brookes to Kevin Bacon to Alicia. It's funny and entertaining, but admitedly it does lack something. If you watch this without overly analysing it, you'll enjoy it and have fun. It is worth taking a look at.
