Movie Reviews of Beauty ShopMovie Review: Beauty Shop Summary: 5 Stars
Leaving the Chicago crew behind, Gina Norris is a long way from the Barbershop--she now lives in Atlanta and is making a name for herself and her cutting-edge hairstyles at a posh Southern salon. But when her flamboyant, egotistical boss, Jorge, takes it one criticism too far, she storms out of his salon to open a shop of her own, taking the shampoo girl and a few key clients with her. Gina risks it all to buy a rundown beauty shop and gets to work making it on her own, inheriting an opinionated group of headstrong stylists, a colorful clientele, and a sexy upstairs electrician. It's a rocky road to fulfilling her dreams, and Jorge does his best to ruin her plans, but you can't keep a good woman down, and you can't keep a shopful of outrageous women from speaking their minds. Queen Latifah is irresistible. Good-natured and warmhearted fun.
Movie Review: Get Your 'Do On! Summary: 5 Stars
Queen Latifah & Alicia Silvestone scintillate as hairdressers in this Black-Is-Beautiful movie. As the Queen sashays into her own shop, where she sells her 'hair crack' conditioner, and Alicia wins as a wanna-be black girl, Djimon Hounsou really glistens as the hunky upstairs electrician who becomes the Queen's handyman.
All the ingedients are here, as comedy mixes w/edginess. Kevin Bacon is Jerome, a nasty Eurotrash hairdresser who ab/uses the Queen until she quits, taking a shampoo girl w/her. Winning a loan for her new shop, a place that looks like 'somebody ate the 70's & threw up', the Queen loses 2 loser hairdressers & learns to cope w/her ghetto location. Alfre Woodward is another, winning 'do do-er, & Della Reese is a surprise quick cameo. Go see it ... unless you're not into humor & beautiful black babes!

Movie Review: Great feel-good fun Summary: 5 Stars
In this feel good girlfriend movie, Queen Latifah is Gina, a hairstylist at a trendy Atlanta salon. When her arrogant, domineering boss goes too far, Gina pulls out, starts her own shop, and takes newly-trained stylist Lynn (Alicia Silverstone) with her. Problems with her new employees, her old building, and her conniving ex-boss add to Gina's woes. But of course good friends, a couple of great guys and a well deserved comeuppance puts everything to right. Of course, Kevin Baker is over the top as Gina's ex-boss, and every repairman who comes in is one great-looking hunk, and of course it is all a bit predictable, but who cares when it is all great feel-good fun.
Movie Review: Comedy at its finest Summary: 5 Stars
Wow, where can I start with this five star comedy? First of all if what you are looking for in a film is an epic masterpiece with legendary plots and non-stop action, this movie is not for you. Alien versus Predator would be the way to go.
OK, what Beauty Shop brings to the table is strong acting and tons of hilarity. It features an extremely talented musician(Queen Latifiah) as she makes her turn to acting. All I can say is my god the woman is talented. Me and my friends joke about how a doctor should be around when watching this film beacuse your side will be hurting so bad from constant laughter.
Go see Beauty Shop!!!!!!!
