Movie Review: Too much Barney talking and not enough dancing
Summary: 2 Stars
There are some good scenes in the DVD showing toddlers and older kids dancing. However, most of the DVD is Barney talking. I wanted more dancing tunes, and more dancing. I wanted to have the little guy see other kids dancing to music. Mostly what you get here is Barney. I would imagine that the owners of Barney are always trying to sell the Barney franchise. However, what I wanted is not the promotion of Barney but the promotion of dancing for kids. This video was not very helpful for getting the little guy to move and dance. Too bad, since Barney has the money to produce excellent videos. This one falls short.

Barney, BJ, and Baby Bop are hosts of the 30-minute musical revue that is short on narrative as they introduce songs in rapid-fire succession. The program plays to toddler audiences with a gentle mix of Mother Goose selections like "Land of Mother Goose" and "Old King Cole" while catering to the preschool crowd with rock & roll numbers such as "Baby Bop Hop," "A Rock 'N' Roll Star," and "BlueJay Blues." BJ stars in his own band, BJ and the Rockets, as he debuts the title song, "The Dino Dance," a rollicking rockfest accompanied by easy-to-learn dance steps that will entice the youngest viewers to get off the couch and start movin'.
