Movie Review: Barbra Streisand - One Voice
Summary: 5 Stars
I first saw this video in 1986 when it was first released. The DVD is honoring its 20th Anniversary. Barbra Streisand at her very best in the relaxed home environment with a star studded audience that included political figures and actors. This DVD is beautiful with vibrant colors and outstanding sound. She sings mostly old favorites, does an impeccable job on Over the Rainbow, wows the audience with The Way We were, and closes with a stirring America the Beautiful. Barry Gibb makes a surprise visit and their duets are okay but not the highlights for me. Barbra Streisand sings with such passion and effortlessness and makes it seem as though she has just written the song herself. Brilliant This concert was a fund raiser for various (liberal) causes including raising money for then Senator Alan Cranston. My only caveat is that there is no closed captioning which made it difficult for this hearing impaired listener to totally appreciate.
