Movie Review: A perfect curl-up on the couch movie!
Summary: 5 Stars
As one reviewer said---as an adult I watched this myself and didn't expect to fall in love with it! I saw it played on TV one Thanksgiving before I even had children and having been an avid Barbie collector in my youth I sat to watch with no expectations. The animation was wonderful and it brought "to life" a classic story. It was well done and I bought a copy to enjoy with my own children today. Different children will be scared of different things. This movie does have a villan, just like every Disney movie about princesses. This DVD does have limeted dancing, but it's very neat. The animation is wonderful, and the story line is based on the nutcracker. (By the way, if you read the back of the box on cast and credits, it will say "Based on Tchvoilsky's, The Nutcracker". Anyway, I love this movie. It's definitly going to make anyone dance!Movie Review: Better Than The Original

After I saw this movie I decided to read the original by E.T.A. Hoffman and for some reason didn't like it. I like the Barbie one a lot more. Even though it doesn't have as much dancing as it should, it is still really interesting. This movie had a lot more action and was just a lot cooler than what I thought it would be like and the original story. I recommend this movie to anyone, after all I loved it and I am 16. This is by far one of the best renditions of The Nutcracker. The dances are mystifying and the story between Barbie and The Nutcracker also entertaining and none formulaic. Barbie is more than just a plastic doll with blonde horse hair, she is indeed a great role model for girls of all ages.
Definitely a great movie for all ages. Parents need not worry about letting their youngs ones watching this alone.

My daughter is obsessed with ballet and The Barbie Nutcracker is one of her favorite videos. She can now hear the music on classical radio and identify which part of The Nutcracker it is from. Amazing. I had no idea how good the Barbie videos where. The music is beautiful and they are really wonderful to watch - even for adults. Which is nice when you have to watch them over and over and
