Movie Reviews of Barbie in The Nutcracker

Movie Review: Nuts over this Nutcracker!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an excellent children's movie, mostly because it wears well for adults who are forced to see it repeatedly. Tim Curry is in his element as the evil Mouse King, and the rest of the cast is strong as well. The computerized animation is attractive and magical, and easy on the eyes.

The orchestral music draws on some sublime themes from Tchaikovsky's immortal score, and will help introduce another generation of young people to classical music. Well, we all have to begin someplace, and at least this beats the monotonous drone of the pop pap that clutters the background of many kids' films.

Your children will love this movie, and it won't drive you into The Disoriented Express. In fact, if you're like me, you may even look forward to your next viewing, no matter how many times you've already seen it. Relive the magic!

Movie Review: Mom of 2 young ballerinas
Summary: 5 Stars

I have to say I was surprised by the quality of this movie. The story is not the "traditional" Nutcracker story, but it is a wonderful version of it, nonetheless. This movie is for every girl who loves Barbie and for every child, boy or girl who loves action and adventure. Both my girls take ballet and are totally inspired while watching it and often put on their ballet shoes and do the dance steps. The DVD is great because it has an interactive component where you can act with Barbie in different scenes. The documentary of the Ballet School is also a nice component for budding ballerinas to see what it's like to be a real dancer. This movie has also exposed my girls to the classical music of the Nutcracker which they now love listening to at home or in the car. I have bought several of these DVD's as gifts.

Movie Review: A must-have for your little princess!
Summary: 5 Stars

My 3 year old daughter started ballet lessions 2 months ago. She loves it. This movie made her feel special. She saw Barbie and Kelly doing ballet. The mouse king was scary to her at first however by the middle of the movie, she was yelling "Bad Mouse King- Stop It!" Plus the special NY ballet segment on this DVD was very fascinating and educational. My daughter also enjoyed this segment. Seeing other ballerinas made her practice her own steps and she saw the result of practicing.
I love this movie and highly recommend it.

Movie Review: A model of etiquette for my four-year-old daughter
Summary: 5 Stars

When my daughter was three this DVD mesmerized her. It was the first full-length movie that captured her complete attention. Today she is four years old and she still loves it. I have used the model of Barbie to explain what is gbeautiful princess-like behavior.h I say, gsit up straight so you sit like a princess does.h This DVD is important for making it fun and interesting to teach etiquette and beauty to my impressionable young girl. My daughter also loves "Barbie as Rapunzel" but I think this one is better.

Movie Review: Excellent Movie
Summary: 5 Stars

My 5 year old daughter and 2 year old twin boys are captivated by the movie. I put this movie on or the Barbie as Rapunzel on for some peace and quiet. I am impressed that my kids sit and watch the entire movie... quietly. The mouse king was scary for my daughter at first, but with many young kids, she still doesn't understand that most videos have a concept of good vs. evil and that good always wins at the end. It may not go along with the entire nutcracker story but remember, its for kids. I totally recommend this video.
