Movie Reviews of Barbie Fairytopia

Movie Review: It was good
Summary: 4 Stars

It was good. It had an actually story, that someone sat down and wrote. I wasn't this remake of a fairytale. The other Barbie movies are hot too, don't get me wrong, I love them. This movie is different and unexpected. I expected to see another movie in the same style of the previous four. This movie doesn't have an intro that starts with a conversation between Kelly and Barbie. I don't know if I would have watched it if it had not been a Barbie movie, but then maybe it would have been better, but it was a pleasant movie to watch. They should have given you more background on Elina and Bibble and the whole gang. The movie should have been longer. The graphics were good, but what about Barbie's traditional romance. Any romance in this movie was very short. Just expected to get a good nice movie to watch. The characters were sweet, and Laverna's evilness makes it less of a fluff movie, and more of an interesting, exciting movie. You do get a preview to the next movie-Barbie & the Magic of Pegasus. Sounds hot. It was still a very good movie.

Movie Review: TROUBLE WITH THIS DVD
Summary: 4 Stars

I read T. Elliot's review and ran into the same problem. The DVD asked for a password. We changed our existing passwords on our DVD player and it STILL didn't work. We took it back to the store - got another DVD - and STILL didn't work. We then called Mattel, who told us they can't help us. (Nice, huh?) Then we called Lions Gate (who I guess put this DVD out). They were helpful to a point. Thing is, they didn't test this DVD on all makes of DVD players, so they will work on some and not others. They couldn't give any info as to when and if it will play on all the DVD players. We had to bring it back to the store (and got SO hassled for returning 2 DVDs), and had to buy it in VHS. My 3-yr old was having a meltdown because she couldn't watch her Barbie DVD. Hope this helps out.

The VHS story was great. In fact, my daughter and I watched it with my granddaughter. I guess we were lucky in one respect - since another reviewer stated the sales pitch in the DVD - we didn't get to see all that on the VHS.

Movie Review: 2 Yr. Old loved it!!
Summary: 4 Stars

My 2yr old daughter has just gotten into all the fairy stuff and she just adored this movie. I actually got into it myself. She got scared when the firefly birds were after Barbie. It was so cute. I personally like the shameless product exploitation. It really gives her something to tie the toys to. Also I really loved growing up watching "Jem and the Holograms" and playing with the dolls. I really miss them. Now since they are gone, Barbie has really stepped up the game. I have not seen the other Barbie videos. I am basing this review on just this Barbie Fairytopia movie. Also the dvd special features are pretty cool. The games and dance sequence we both really liked. I look forward to watching the other Barbie videos now.

Movie Review: tink would kick their a**
Summary: 4 Stars

My girls love all the other four Barbie movies that they have- and with good reason. Fairytopia was a nice movie. The voices of some of the fairies could have been a bit more pleasant than what they were...geese, some of them sounded like an ole' hag rather than a spring chicken fairy.
Kelly Sheridan (the voice of Barbie in all her movies)did another great job as Barbie/Elina.
The storyline was creative, but in some cases a bit drawn out, some scenes could have been deleted. Overall, it is a nice fantasy movie to watch with a big bowl of buttered popcorn and your little girl(s) right there next to you on the couch.

Movie Review: The Only Entertaining Barbie DVD yet.
Summary: 4 Stars

My wife, myself, my 3 & 6 yr old daughters fall asleep during the previous Barbie Films. The slow, dull, too - well known and overtrodden "classics" turned into flimsy not-as-good-as Nintendo Graphics "movies" leave much to be desired (like entertainment value.

Finally, this one at least has some bright contrast colors, a bit of humor, and at last... a PACE!

Not being a big fan of Barbie, I at least don't cringe when my daughters ask for this one. And they actually watch it, while they just get board with the past DVD's.

Definitely the best one they've made!
