Movie Reviews of Balto

Movie Review: A great classic, which deserve to be more known
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm 20, and yet I've never heard of Balto before this year. But now I'm an absolute fan of this movie, and I've must seen it a few dozens of time now... Why? Outside of its classical aspects, this is simply a well done animated movie. To me, there's everything you need to make a great movie : great animation, attractive characters, a beautiful story, a good production... There's no dead time, no songs (except for the excellent credits one), and it's a really good thing. But above all, I love the soundtrack, composed by James Horner (= Titanic, Braveheart...) There are probably the most awesome and varied themes I've ever heard in this kind of movies. And I'm sure everybody would have put it up among Disney's greatest movies, if it had been one! So if you've never seen it, give it a try!

Movie Review: Balto-An Awe-Inspiring Film!
Summary: 5 Stars

That is what I thought the first time I saw this wonderful film. I ignored what the critics said about it, and saw it anyway, and the movie proved them wrong.

It is based loosely on the true story of Balto, the dog who led the last leg of the run to Nome to deliver diptheria antitoxin.

But this story is very good. It focuses on a dog who is half wolf. His goose friend Boris sums up Balto's feelings when he says "Not a dog. Not a wolf. All he knows is what he's not. If only he knew what he is."

It is when he discovers who he really is, and accepts it, that he saves the day. That scene where the white wolf shows Balto who he really is is worth the entire movie. That scene never fails to bring tears to my eyes.

It is well worth seeing.

Movie Review: Balto
Summary: 5 Stars

Excellent - I ordered two copies for my grandchildren and it was a hit with them, particularly after I explained to them that it was based on a true story. My 5-year old twin grandchildren (a boy and a girl) must have watched it a dozen times or more. The story idea of having the grandmother take her granddaughter to see the monument was brilliant. My 5-year old granddaughter stunned me by immediately realizing that the grandmother was supposed to be the sick little girl who was saved when the dog team arrived just in time bringing the antitoxin to Nome. The storyline is perfectly gauged to hold the attention of young children and has great educational value - something I can't say about any of the garbage shown on TV these days that is aimed at children.

Movie Review: An epic cartoon!
Summary: 5 Stars

Balto is one of the most emotive, epic and interesting cartoons movies I have ever seen in years.

Based on a true story happened in 1925, the film deals with the raffles a half dog and half wolf creature named Balto will have to face to reach its goal. To bring from one miles away medicines for the diphtheria, that almost makes some children of that village pass away.

Funny sequences ornament this well told story. There will an implacable enemy Steele, a beauty dog, fierce animals, hair raising sequences and of course, the snowy and windy weather.

A movie for kids and adults too. Lovable, entertained and recommended. Don't let it pass in front of you.

Movie Review: Why isn't this much more popular than it is now?
Summary: 5 Stars

This isn't your average animated film. Balto is just as great as The Lion King, Fantasia, and The Land Before Time. It has a solid story (which is based on true events), a brilliant script (even for a family film), impressive voice acting, and some beautiful animation. Sure, Boris the goose is a bit annoying at times, but that's probably the only thing that's bad about this animated classic. I still don't understand why this isn't as recognizable as The Lion King or An American Tail. Maybe it's because of marketing limitations or something. Whatever the reasons, let's hope that people get to see this film and let's definitely hope that this will turn out to be one of their favorites.
