Movie Reviews of Babylon A.D.Movie Review: Babylon A.D. is a Futuristic Journey... Summary: 4 Stars
I enjoyed Babylon A.D. and purchased the Blu-ray from Amazon. Vin Diesel is not the bigger than life character seen in most of his other movies. He is tough but begins to show more human elements like caring and self-sacrifice. These are traits some don't expect in a Vin Diesel movie. The girl he is transporting from China to the U.S. is charismatic. She is hauntingly beautiful and appears to be a savior. She is fragile like in the Fifth Element, but turns out to be something completely different like Blade Runner.
The action scenes are great and kept the movie exciting. Some scenes of the movie reminded me of Mad Max and Doomsday.
Strong performances from great actresses like Charlotte Rampling and Michele Yeoh also added positively to the movie.
The ending was a disappointment as others mentioned. The movie is good but not great. It could have been better if it were made longer to develop story sub-plots.
The Blu-ray is sharp and delivers powerful DTS Master Audio effects.
I liked the movie and will be watching it more than once.
Movie Review: Fun, and worth watching. But confusing at times. Summary: 4 Stars
I thought this movie was pretty good. A pretty generic first sentence for a review, but that sums up my thoughts fairly well.
Babylon A.D. had its pros and cons.
As far as pros go, it kept me entertained and wanting to see how the story would end up. In other words, it was interesting. The actors did a great job as well. I thought the special effects were beautiful and realistic.
As far as cons go, the movie was confusing. I found the plot hard to keep up with, especially towards the end. There was no real closure when the movie ended, and left you wondering where the plot was supposed to be ending up, and whether or not you really grasped what was intended.
But overall, I enjoyed watching Babylon A.D.
Movie Review: Not the movie shown at theaters. Summary: 4 Stars
I was very disappointed in this DVD. I liked the movie and had no problem with plot lines as others seem to have had. This DVD is not the version shown in the theaters. The HumV chase was cut out and put on the "special features" part of the disc. This was a pivital point about the end of the Ramplings "church". Also I remember at the end of the movie Vin Diesel was playing with the Mélanie Thierry's small girls at his rebuilt home in the woods, a more hopeful note to the ending than is on the DVD. I wish that they had included both versions and let viewers decide for themselves. Vin Diesel gave a better performance in this movie that he did in Man Apart and I thought he was very good in that.
Movie Review: Great Concept, poor delivery Summary: 4 Stars
I can't say this film is an Oscar winner, but it is not as bad as many reviewers indicate. The problem with the movie is that it has a poor delivery; i personally think it lacked a bit more action. The concept and the idea of future world are great, but you need more detail, more story line, and that is where it fails. Perhaps if maybe another director would have taken a shot at it, it could have been broader, better. We have to understand that are tons of great concept movies with a bad delivery, this is one of them. The movie is not total garbage, it's worth the rent, go check it out.
Movie Review: The uncut version is quite amazing Summary: 4 Stars
The film, as others have stated already, is better than its average rating would make you think. It is atmospheric, presents good sets and actors and creates a dark futuristic environment which is credible. Surely the film stays behind its potential, but it still is a unique piece of art. This concerns the uncut version. I have not seen the theatrical version.
