Movie Reviews of Baby Songs - Baby's Busy Day

Movie Review: The BEST of the baby songs
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't get it...I just read a review that stated that the Original Baby Songs was better than this one. Whoa...it's not even close in my opinion. I have the Original Baby Songs, Baby 1-2-3, and Baby's Busy Day, and there's just no comparison in my daughter's opinion (and mine as well).

The tunes are just that much "catchier" than the other two. Maybe it's an age issue (my daughter is 13 months), but she must have my tastes because Baby's Busy Day is the only one that immediately gets her attention and puts a smile on her face.

Until about the age of 1, she was most interested in the Baby Einstein movies. But as soon as she turned 1, she got really bored with those. So we bought a 3-pack of Baby Songs and she is hooked. She dances, screams, laughs, and just loves Baby's Busy Day.

I would recommend them all, but without question Baby's Busy Day is an overall much more fun DVD. It does have some outdated video (lots of early 80's shots if I'm guessing right), but it's more about the music and the children's interactions than the clothes they wear.

My only gripe is that the songs are so catchy that I've started humming them at work. You should see the looks I get!

Please, if you're going to try one Baby Songs, make it Baby's Busy Day ~ you won't regret it.

Movie Review: Our 2 year old loves this one too!
Summary: 5 Stars

We have yet to find a Hap Palmer product that we don't like and this is no exception. We bought this for our 2 year old daughter, after having the Original Baby Songs DVD for months. She liked the Original so much that we figured Baby's Busy Day would be a big hit with her too and it has been. She has enjoyed it just as much as the Original... and so has our 5 year old. Similar to the Original Baby Songs, Baby's Busy Day is filled with simple, catchy and easy to learn songs. We hear our girls singing them often throughout the day.

Although, I'm not sure the song "Finger Foods" taught our two year old the correct message with high chair etiquette and ever since watching the video of this song, she has been happily plunging her fingers into various foods and smearing it everywhere. It doesn't help matters that our 5 year old sings the song for her which only encourages more mess. She has received the right message with the song "I Can Put My Clothes on By Myself" and sings it every morning while getting herself dressed. Overall, it is a fun and simple DVD and we would recommend it. Our girls have thoroughly enjoyed watching the videos and singing all the songs.

Movie Review: Triplet Mom's LIFESAVER
Summary: 5 Stars

Ok, to begin with I had no idea who Hap was. I just knew that I didn't want my triplets hooked on broadcast TV stuff that was full of marketing, commercials, etc. So we ordered BabyFirstTV (kinda like HBO for babies) and during the programming they would show these videos. It didn't take long for me to notice that my kids were MESMERIZED by Palmer's music videos. I quickly recognized the prints and hairstyles from my own childhood (80's kid) and went on a search until I found the DVD's here. The kids LOVED them and now that they are almost two they actually ask for them by name. I would HIGHLY recommend these DVD's to anyone who is interested in exposing their children to music, rhyming, social skills, development skills, sillyness and laughter via your DVD player. I am not saying they take the place of actual experiences but they sure do enhance them. You don't know how handy it is to get your triplet toddlers to quickly cooperate and follow instructions by just singing a simple song to them. Anyway, long story short.... WE LOVE HAP PALMER AND THESE DVDs!

Movie Review: My 20 month old loves it!
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter loves this video. She asks for it all the time. We don't let her watch a lot of TV but this is a great video. I think it's great that it shows kids dressing up in any season clothes - so what if your kid does that? That's what being a kid is all about. I do wonder about the finger foods segment, but my daughter has never once imitated it. I wonder if anyone's kids have ever imitated it? Anyone?

I think it's a very sensitive video. I give my daughter credit to know that a monkey is not going to come into our house and throw food around. She knows this is just an entertaining video. I think she has been inspired by it to want to dress herself. And I think she likes watching the real people in it do real things. There are many races represented in the film, and there are some disabled kids as well.

I'm buying some other Hap Palmer DVDs for her. I do recommend this one.

Movie Review: Your baby will love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

We have rented this DVD from the library so many times that we now plan to buy our own copy. My 19 month old daughter asks for it by name. Yes, the songs are a bit corny and the hairstyles and clothes are a bit outdated (which I find endearing in a nostalgic sort of way), but your baby or toddler is sure to adore it. Isn't that what really matters? As far as the individual songs are concerned, we do have a few favorites. There is only one song that I usually skip (so easy with the DVD). It is about a rag doll that comes to life and I find the image of her flopping around a little strange. It doesn't seem to bother my daughter a bit. All in all it's a great DVD and I unreservedly give it 5 STARS!
