I have watched Away from Her twice and think it is absolutely superb. It is a story that we can all relate to, especially if one has dealt with dementia and memory loss in the family. But it is a movie about more than just memory loss, it is about life choices that we all make or have made. I have loaned it to a friend but plan to watch it again as soon as it is returned.Movie Review: Not for the sqeamish

Julie Christie is superb, and Gordon Pinsent presents a chilling portrayal of the journey from complete denial to final and unspeakably sad acceptance. Sad but very realistic portrayal of a devastating disease, and I am a physician. Julie Christie was magnificent and should have won an Oscar if the subject had been more "box-office". One of the most moving movies I have seen. Julie Christie is magnificant. Sarah Polley's handling ov the material is magical. I also recommend reading the original short story by Alice Munro called "The Bear Went Over The Mountain."
