Movie Reviews of Away from HerMovie Review: Loved this movie Summary: 5 Stars
I have watched Away from Her twice and think it is absolutely superb. It is a story that we can all relate to, especially if one has dealt with dementia and memory loss in the family. But it is a movie about more than just memory loss, it is about life choices that we all make or have made. I have loaned it to a friend but plan to watch it again as soon as it is returned.
Movie Review: Not for the sqeamish Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is not for anyone who does not want to face the realities of the horror of Alzheimer's disease. The acting is splendid. Julie Christie is superb, and Gordon Pinsent presents a chilling portrayal of the journey from complete denial to final and unspeakably sad acceptance. I thought I would make it through without crying. I was wrong.
Movie Review: The terrible trials with Alzheimers Summary: 5 Stars
This movie should be a must see for all those who need to
know about Alzheimers. It is a terrible disease and affects
everyone in the family. There is no cure and it can start very
early in life. I highly recommend this movie. The acting is
superb. It will leave you weeping.
Movie Review: Away From Her Summary: 5 Stars
Sad but very realistic portrayal of a devastating disease, and I am a physician. Julie Christie was magnificent and should have won an Oscar if the subject had been more "box-office". She has lost none of her wonderful talent in the xxx years since Doctor Zhivago (it's not nice to tell a lady's age!).
Movie Review: Away From Her. Summary: 5 Stars
One of the most moving movies I have seen. Julie Christie is magnificant. Sarah Polley's handling ov the material is magical. I also recommend reading the original short story by Alice Munro called "The Bear Went Over The Mountain."
