Movie Review: To Willie and Kate with Love
Summary: 5 Stars
I am biased in my review of this film, I first saw it in the 70's and I fell instantly in love with Italy, thank you Billy Wilder. To paraphrase Pamela Piggot;
'Avanti is not a film, it is an emotion '
Everytime I watch this film I am transported into the ongoing and timeless world of Wendle Ambruster Jnr. Pamela Piggot, Carlo Carluci and the rest of the characters in this perfect film.
I like to think that Wendle and Pamela are still meeting 15 July to 15 August every year.
The film is yet another of Billy Wilders masterpieces of cinema, I only hope younger film fans will come to appreciate his portfolio of classic films, all of them good, but this one is my personal favorite.
Movie Review: my grandmother's favorite movie

I purchased Avanti for my 82 year old grandmother. It's her favorite movie, and she couldn't watch her copy of it anymore because it was a betamax. So I gave it to her on DVD for christmas and watched it with her the next day. I must say, it is a delightful movie. It's a love story, but it's also cute & funny (but I certainly wouldn't call it a 'romantic comedy'). Visually, the movie is stunning, with lots of gorgeous shots of the Italian seaside & countryside. The only weird part was that there are a couple of scenes that featured Juliet Mills topless or naked. For the most part, that's great -- Juliet Mills was a fox. But it's a little akward when your grandma is sitting right next to you!Movie Review: One of my top 3 favorite movies of ALL time

I saw this movie AT the theatre back in 1974.It touched me then and continues to be one of my all time top 3 favorite movies!
The scenery,the humor,and the music and storyline are well worth your time! It is sentimental and touching on many levels.
In the middle of winter when I need a dose of sun, I watch this movie,in the middle of summer when I need to get away and cannot, I watch this movie.It is never dull,or boring.
I would give this 10 stars if I could.
Get the movie,you won't be sorry!Jack Lemmon and Juliet Mills worked very well together and the italian cast will make you laugh.This movie will also make you want to go to Ischia!

If your depressed, need a holiday, think that everything is against you, then you need to see Avanti! This is a true Jack Lemon comedy and Billy Wilder at his directorial best. As you watch the film you will be taken to the real Italy where lunch is more important than making money, where making love is to be savored and marriage is what you do at the end of the day.I write this not as film review but as a strong recommendation to your soul - buy Avanti on DVD becasue if you get on VHS, your and your family wear it out! As they say in the film, "you bet your sweet buttouti!"
Movie Review: Another sweet & smart Wilder/Lemmon collaboration

I didn't see "Avanti!" until 2008, when I caught it as it aired on a premium cable channel. Although it was late, and I SHOULD have been asleep, I was enchanted by the film, just as I always have been by "The Apartment." Tonight, I found the DVD at the unbelievable price of $4.99! It was more unbelievable because the store carrying it is ALWAYS overpriced (think one of the two national book/music/video chains). Regardless, if you love romantic comedies, this is one of the sexiest & most intelligent ones out there.
