Movie Reviews of August Rush

Movie Review: Beautiful film
Summary: 5 Stars

This is more than a feel good movie. It is a beautiful story about a boy searching for his parents. He goes about his quest listening to the music all around him. Keri Russell and Jonathan Rhys Meyers are great. Russell's performance is truly excellent. She is cellist who becomes pregnant after one night with a bad singer. Throughout the movie, she searches for her son. Freddie Highmore is a fantastic actor. His face never lost that innocence and hopefulness that made the movie fantastic. The story was absolutely beautiful and hopeful. Yes, the movie is sentimental and full of events that are way too coincidental or do not make sense. But, so what? The movie is absolutely beautiful, and the plot and visual representations are enhanced through the music.

The Special Features has deleted scenes.

Movie Review: The Fantasy of a Child Prodigy
Summary: 5 Stars

And the language is music. Beautiful music. A seamless combination of classical and rock-n-roll music lies behind the tale. It's the love story of two musicians as dreamed by a lost child, who discovers his musical gifts through everything and everyone around him. The lesson is about listening to your heart and staying true to your dream. There's no room for greed and disingenuous intentions. Mistakes can be forgiven and lessons learned.

Every actor in this film is as lovely as the fanciful story, and love oozes from every note. I've watched it twice and both times, my heart was filled with joy. August Rush is one for the ages and excellent viewing for the entire family. My highest recommendation.

Movie Review: About Time Hollywood Makes a Good Movie Again
Summary: 5 Stars

First movie in a long time that held my attention without hitting fast forward on the remote. Refreshing change from all the senseless violence, crude humor, and sex that overshadows and ruins most current movies.

Don't understand the negative reviews.....movies should be more fairy tale and less "real life" that makes violence, sex, and crude humor/language acceptable so young people (especially) fulfill Hollywood's vision of "real life".

Many news stories of idiot savants sitting down at a piano and playing immediately......Again the negative reviews are simply that....NEGATIVE.
Google "Thomas Bethune" and maybe a little bit of the "unbelievable" in this movie becomes a bit more "believable.

Rented the movie, but ordering my own copy from Amazon!

Movie Review: Great movie for music lovers
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie has been clearly depicted on here by quite a few people so I will not take the time to go through every aspect of the plot. In general the movie is creative, the music really adds to the plot line, and the music itself is quite solid. In fact I also went back and purchased the soundtrack, something I do not do often.

For music lovers this movie is perfect. It really can touch us on a deeply emotional level and gives us a new aspect at which to look or better yet where to listen for music. Sometimes it can happen in the most unusual circumstances.

Overall this movie was fantastic. The acting was great, the plot was fantastic, and the music did not let you down one bit. If you are a bit of a rut this movie can definitely lift your spirits.

Movie Review: Pure magic...
Summary: 5 Stars

Many call this a fairy tale. I prefer to view it as a parable. It merely reflects back to the viewer what he or she already knows. It's a reminder, and a beautiful one at that.

My daughter recommended this one and I was a bit hesitant going in but once I settled into it, my heart, my mind and my ears just opened and I was willing to receive the message.

Ok, so suspension of reality is required at times - though a positive slant is that all that's required is a bit of faith - and it's a bit obvious where the movie is going but y'know what? Who really cares? Just sit back, listen and go with it.

It's tough to find movies nowadays that can remind a person that hope and beauty really are all around us and this one is a nice reminder.
