Movie Reviews of August RushMovie Review: Music Brings Us Together Summary: 5 Stars
Finally I got to see this movie and loved it. The story of an orphaned boy who's parents connected love at first sight, had a one night stand, and conceived a child. The mother played the cello, and father played in an alternative rock band. The baby was taken from the mother and told he was dead by her very own father and given away for adoption. After 11 years, on his death bed, father tells his daughter about the baby, and she begins a frantic search for him in New York City. Evan taylor, who took the alias as August Rush, was extaodinarily talented and could 'feel the presence of his parents through sounds, and he was able to compose and play music as if he'd studied all of his life. The couple reunites in New York City to find their 11 year old son conducting a rhapsody he'd written and was performing in cetral Park. What a lovely story to say the music connects us and brings us together, and as artists, we have a sense of perception and being that trascends all time and distance. A must see.
Movie Review: Loved It, Loved It, Loved It. Summary: 5 Stars
I watched this movie on cable and only saw apart of it but when it came on again it was kind of late and I had to get up early for work but it was well worth watching the parts I missed the first time. I'm not an expert critic or even a musician but this movie kept my attention and I found it to be just a good movie for all ages to watch. I know its not all real but I guess just allowing my imagination to flow with the movie and with the characters in the movie I found it to be entertaining and well worth owning and watching over and over again. Too bad for those that are so serious about their music that found this movie offensive and unbelievable. I'm not one of them I just liked the movie and the music no mater how not real some parts may have been thats the beauty of it for me. I wasn't looking for mistakes in the movie or finding faults with the music or charters I just saw it for what it was a simple but entertaining movie to watch.
Movie Review: Shame on those non believers Summary: 5 Stars
Shame upon those 10 folks who gave this movie a 1 star rating. Get a grip. This movie was pure entertainment, not intended to do more than that, and in this day and age, with all the stresses we all face, entertainment and fun is quite useful. Sure the story line was a bit hokey, and the little boy's playing of the guitar was not for real, but the music was just plain fantastic. Sent chills up and down my spine the first time he picked up that guitar.
Far too often, movies are pure trash, full of sex, nudity, virtual intercourse, blood, violence, pure filthy language, denigration of various ethnic groups, genders, etc., obviously thrown together for the sole purpose of making a quick buck. Hooray that a movie that is pure fun and fantasy comes along.
If there was a higher rating than 5 stars, I would give it. For unbelievable music, and a fun, relaxing 2 hours, I believe August Rush is hard to beat.
Movie Review: Musical Magic Summary: 5 Stars
This movie shows you how much music can really move a person. August Rush follows a family that is brought together through music. August wishes to find his long lost parents and believes he can find them through the music that he hears in everyday objects and sounds. Years before his parents had also been brought together when both "heard the music" as they were playing in two seperate concerts. As this movie progresses music continues to play as an important role as August learns how to play a guitar simply by looking at another kid playing, finds out how to write music, and finally writes his own rhapsody. As August is improving his ability and sharing his talent, his parents are each on a journey to discover they're love of music again. The end of this movie is an emotional thrill and the final song will break your heart everytime. I thoroughly enjoyed this musical movie that shows that music can bring those we miss together.
Movie Review: Music that rocks your soul Summary: 5 Stars
This has to be one of the best movies I've seen that ties the connection that music makes to human emotion. Not only is the music inspired, but the performers are especially convincing. Jonathon Rhys Meyers has an amazing voice, Keri Russell, while not really 'playing' the cello has obviously studied well for this role, as her handing of the instrument and the body language she projects are passionate and convincing. Then there's Freddie Highmore, clearly the star of the movie. How does a kid of his age access such depth within himself to play a child prodigy with so much conviction and enthusiasm? Beats me, but he was a joy to watch in every scene.
The added bonus here, and for me the thing that catapults this movie to greatness, is the spiritual connections made throughout. They are made in several subtle ways, but those who are especially attuned to that sort of thing will find plenty of inspiration.
