Movie Reviews of Attila

Movie Review: Gerard Butler the Handsomest and Best Actor in the World
Summary: 5 Stars

I rented this movie on netflix purely by chance. It was a great movie and the leading man Gerard Butler won me over. He is so handsome. I know he had to lose his scottish accent so he could play this part. I just so enjoyed this movie so much. I watched it till I thought I was wearing a hole in the DVD. I finally sent it back to netflix and decided to buy my own copy. I think I have watched it about 50 times.
Now I watch for all his movies, he just is my favorite actor of all time!
Great battle scenes, loads of action, and really a great miniseries that I believe brought him many more fans, after they saw his acting ability in Attila.
Critics did not like it. I loved it, and I never listen to the critics any way. I make up my own mind on movies.

Summary: 5 Stars

Honestly my initial attraction to owning this DVD was Gerard Butler. He is smoking!!!!!! hot!!!! He also happens to be a fine actor who obviously works very hard at his craft. Although the story was not completely historically accurate (I am fairly certain the real Attila was not as considerate of the women he owned), I enjoyed the acting. Powers Boothe was very good as well. The friendship/conflict between his character and Attila was very interesting.

I don't think I will ever think of an adult man and a diaper the same way again. Did I say Gerry Butler was smoking hot!!!! He was the reason I bought the DVD, but all performances and production made the entire story quite interesting. No disappointment here.

Movie Review: The Hun!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I had not seen this on TV, so I'm glad I didn't miss it altogether! Very, very well done; well-played; and well-presented!!! Obviously, you will never know what was said, exactly, but if you have a good grip on human nature, you can easily see the truth in the events and more-or-less what was said. Insofar as whether this word or that word was said, it makes no difference, and nothing is lost in not knowing. The events are real, and they ring loudly in your ears--you feel the fear of the whole village, the resentment, the anger, the desire for revenge, and the final result!!! You are desirous of and seduced by the life in Rome, and the contrast with the continual encampment otherwise. Hero or villian--you decide!?!

Movie Review: Attila Remembered
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm sure most people only know Attila by describing someone destructive as Attila the Hun - but thanks to this former TV mini-series the viewer is treated to an overview of the man and his times.
Although not completely historically accurate, Attila presents a sweeping view of Hun society as well as the beginning of the decline of the Roman empire. The actors are excellent, especially Gerard Butler who brings Attila to life. While I question whether Attila was quite as handsome and sexy as Butler, I think it's a nice compliment to a man who's noterity has lasted over 1500 years.
Thoroughly enjoyable for those who like history, costume drama and action.

Movie Review: Attila
Summary: 5 Stars

Overall a pretty good movie, though unfortunately the Romans were often stereotyped, and the realities of the a fifth century heavily Christianized Rome were almost entirely absent, in the interest of scandalizing their legendary illicit behaviors. The battle scenes seemed hampered by a lack of funding, and the Roman legions suffered from many anachronisms, probably noticed only by interested parties and/or classicists like myself. Irregardless, it was a very entertaining movie from start to finish, and I recommend it highly. It is interesting how often it is that the victims of imperial ambition are not soldiers, but the common people caught in the middle.
