Movie Reviews of Attila

Movie Review: Hmm - angels see Gerard Butler and weep.
Summary: 5 Stars

If anyone who has eyes to see, views Gerard Butler in the movie Attila and does not find Gerard Butler a mouth watering hunk; those eyes that viewed that movie are probably attached to two antennas affixed to the tail end of some alien being from out of space.
The movie Attila is very entertaining, the story is good and Gerard Butler is riveting. The entire cast played their part like it was theirs to own. You will want that DVD as I do, as you will find that you have a great need to view Gerard Butler again and again.
Gerard Butler in the bath, fighting, courting, talking, his eyes, his lips, his body, his accent and the way his mouth moves to voice words. He seems to be a great kisser too. Why does a man have to look so good? Hmm - angels see Gerard Butler and weep. I am no angel therefore I see Gerard Butler and I salivate.
I had a riotous laugh writing this, I do hope you laughed reading it.
But seriously, add Attila to your library, in Gerard Butler's Irish drawl, `you won't regre-e-et it'. I must warn you though, do be careful. Gerard Butler is an addictive entertainer. You may end up having a copious relationship with your DVD player, making it a must that you buy other movies starring Gerard Butler.

Movie Review: Really enjoyable movie!
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie was really fun to watch, and the battle/war scences were very intense! They used Chechz army soldiers as extras for the battle scences.

I will admit, Tim Curry 'dr franken furter from rocky horror picture show' had Me going for awhile seeing Him as Theodorus, Emporer ov Constantinople, the Eastern Empire but He did an excellent job and hopes he thinks about doing another movie about Constantinople, 'if one is ever made'...

The movie may lack in some historical content however it holds to the legends combined with what We do know historically, and at last, it was extreamly entertaining and does hold your intrested unless your a tight collard stiff lipped upper crust pompus english professor where everything must be perfectly accuret to their liking and standards.

Personally I love history, Roman History, Byzantine History, and found this movie to be extreamly fun to watch. Powers Boothe plays an excellent Flavious Atius, it would be intresting to see Powers Boothe and Timothy Dalton in a movie on Rome with Daltons award winning portral of Julius Caeser in the Hallmark classic Cleopatra. That should be some major war scences and Roman government plotting =)

Enjoy!

Movie Review: Attila conquers lands and hearts alike
Summary: 5 Stars

Being Hungarian, I was most interested to view this latest interpretation of one of my storied ancestors, Attila the Hun, the Scourge of God. Gerard Butler outdid himself in portraying the wiley, wise, and far-seeing nomad from the Mongolian steppes, both in his knowledge of the character and in his physical prowess in horsemanship, for which he practiced faithfully. Mr. Butler's nuanced acting gave life and vitality to a script that could have been sterile and uninteresting. It also does not hurt that Mr. Butler has the looks and build of which the real Attila could only have dreamed. Be that as it may, the acting is superb by all: the villains are properly scheming, the nobles are properly ungrateful for being saved from themselves, the Huns are properly savage and blood-thirsty, and Attila's women are properly ravishingly beautiful. While the story, as told, is in many ways inaccurate from a historical perspective, the story, as told, is all the more interesting than mere dry history. I recommend this heartily for all Gerard Butler fans, as well as for fans of historical fiction.

Movie Review: To Heck With The Facts!
Summary: 5 Stars

I found this movie to be very entertaining, albeit not historically acurate, although Gerard Butler seems to make you want to say to heck with the facts!

On a side note, I almost watched this movie on the USA Network in January 2001, but life happened and I only seemed to watch the trailer instead. Gerard did turn my head so much to where every few months after I caught a glimpse of him for years I would ask myself, 'I wonder what ever happened to that guy in that movie?' I didn't know his name or remember the name of this movie, apparently. When I finally did rent this movie (and soon there after I bought it from Amazon), and I had been a fan of Gerry's for a couple of months, I literally gasped when I realized that Gerry and 'that guy in that movie' were the same person! I guess my subconcious mind was a fan all along, but I digress...

Movie Review: Fun Movie! Hunky Men.
Summary: 5 Stars

I watched Attila at first with some skepticism, but found it a exciting and enjoyable film, especially the first half. While I doubt Attila was white (records describe him as being of Mongol descent), the actor did a convincing job. In particular I liked the character of the female mystic who grew up with Attila, and the beginning scenes of Attila as a young man in the village of his uncle

The second half of the film was a little less exciting. New characters are introduced with no background information and there were excessive battle scenes. Also, I was disappointed we never found out what happened to Attila's son, and the Roman commander daughter. I wish they had portrayed Attilla's death accurately, even if it was ignominious. Still, an excellent film, well worth a viewing!
