Movie Review: OK so we all know these old movies can be a bit hokey...
Summary: 4 Stars

...and this one is no different but that's what is FUN about these old black and white "monster" movies! I just love them. This one has fond memories linked with it -- when my best friend and I were about 5 or 6 years old, and I was spending the night at her house, we were laying on the floor with our bed pillows at her house one Friday night - staying way up past our bedtime watching "Shock Theater"......this one came on and we were so terrified of that giant bubble following that lady around. Ahh, the good old days. The movie overall is pretty bad, the special effects are really bad (especially the giant rubbery hand reaching out) - and just HOW does that 50 foot tall woman still fit in her house after she's gotten so tall? I also would like to know how the sheets were big enough to make clothes for her. Must have been some big bed she had! This is just for fun -- just like all the other cult classic monster movies -- just sit back, relax and don't expect anything like today's special effects - just have fun with it!

Movie Review: The Big Girl on DVD...WOO-HOO!

Attack of the 50ft. Woman on DVD...FINALLY! This is one of those films that as a child, was a lot of fun because it would actually scare me. Now as a 48 yr. old kid, it's still a lot of fun but on a totally different level. Sure the effects are bad, the acting isn't the greatest, blah, blah, blah, but I have to admire all the reviewers who love this movie for what it is...good campy cheesy sci-fi fun! One reviewer mentioned that this would have been a good film for the MST creators to get their hands on. Well, I actually saw this movie at a revival theater where they played the movie but a comedy group (the Laugh Connection, the American Connection...can't remember), provided their own soundtrack and dialog. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen! They completely changed the story but it still worked with the visuals.

Long story longer...I love this film and this kid is looking forward to seeing it again and again.

Movie Review: Attack of The Fifty Foot Woman/memories

This is a great DVD. The print of the movie is bright and clear. The commentary of Yvette (Honey) Vickers is charming, informative and funny. I have loved this movie since I was a child. I am a big 50s car freak and I loved the Imperial, Plymouth Plaza patrol car and the 1958 Plymouth wagon that turns into a 1949 Chevy when it is dropped. I also learned how to jitterbug from this movie, the couple dancing behind Harry and Honey at the bar. Great memories.

Attack of the 50 Ft.Woman is a cheaply made horror movie from the fifties.It's certainly not on par with 50's classics like Them! or War of the Worlds but it still works and is great fun to watch.The print is very good and there's a nice commentary by Yvette Vickers and film historian Tom Weaver.I like these 50's movies and really enjoyed it!!!!
