Movie Reviews of Assassination Tango

Movie Review: muy bueno
Summary: 5 Stars

hard to find anything comparable - nice (albeit idealized) snapshot of Buenos Aires

able to watch this many times (one of my criteria for a great work of art)

a bit of a challenge to reconcile to Duvall's somewhat antagonistic (perhaps viewer uncomfortably gauche) character - a character licensed via an older American gangster

lots of great commentary by duvall and pedraza (with some deleted scenes) helps to make you feel like you are with them on location (99% shot in Argentina)

I keep hoping this was a 6 hr mini series (they had to cut stuff) Duvall has excellent intuition of what is cultural with a balance of history and now (Duvall wrote and directed this - perhaps we will be treated to another since his passion is obvious here)

hard to believe that Luciana isn't a professional tango dancer

just excellent supporting actor performances

Movie Review: Nice relaxed mixutre of killing and loving. A lot like life.
Summary: 5 Stars

Gotta go with the flow with this movie. Sure Duvall and Pedraza have something going in real life. That's what makes so many of the scenes--nice, relaxed, drinking coffe and getting to know each other--so comfortable. And something no one else mentions in their reviews; these two have a platonic love affair--he remains emotionally faithful to his Brooklyn girlfriend and her daughter. The episode with the "demimondienne" [NOT prostitute. Get real!] was physical but...note! he wants her to call him "papito:" daddy. He wants a connection, a feeling that someone depends on him, wants him, needs him. There's more to this movie than one might think. By the way: I'm writing this having had a nice cigar, a brandy, and listening to many tangos on my CD changer while my wife is at her ladies club. Feeling very nostalgic and fine. Maybe now you get the message. A fine movie.

Movie Review: FANTASTIC FILM
Summary: 5 Stars

Loved this film, which was done on location in Argentina, and partyly NYC. Fantastic cast, including Ruben Blades playing a small cameo. Duvall was at his best and was interesting to watch interact with the locals. He's a fascinating man and astounding actor who even did a good job of pulling off the tango scenes. The film gave you the impression that a great deal of it was improvised. Watching the tango was totally mesmermizing. What a sensous dance.

Vendor did a great job in getting the product to me on time and in great condition. Would highly recommend both film and vendor.

Movie Review: argentine tango

Robert Duval does a spectacular job. He writes, directs and stars. The music is authentic.

Movie Review: movie review
Summary: 5 Stars

As tango dancers we found the film very informative about the history of the dance. Very exciting dance scenes and very authentic. Yes we have been in Buenos Aires and studied tango there. Only thing missing there was Robert Duvall.
The story itself is okay but the scenes and the dancing are superb and outstanding. We had seen the film before and loved it and tried over and over to order it but it was not available so we were very happy when we were finally able to own it. It is a must for tango dancers, Duvall fans or dreamers of the romantic life of Argentina.
