Movie Reviews of Army of Darkness

Movie Review: The Greatest Zombie Spoof EVER! EVER! EVER!
Summary: 5 Stars

"Shop smart! Shop... S-Mart." I think this movie is THE MOST ENTIRELY AWESOME ZOMBIE SPOOF FILM EVER MADE! Ever!!! We must have watched it 30 times. I mean, Bruce Campbell is great looking but he's also a pretty good actor and he's definitely a great action star. "Who wants some! Huh?" There are fight scenes and surprises and screaming gore in Army like nothing else in any other horror film, not even the Return series, which are hilarious and great but not quite as fun as this one. So I'll leave you with one thought here. "Yeah, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been King. But my place is here. Hail to the King, baby." YES!!!!!

Movie Review: Army of Darkness-Good Horror/Comedy
Summary: 5 Stars

Army of Darkness is a fast moving, vibrant ride for fans of this genre. It picks up where Evil Dead 2 leaves off.(For those who didn't know it is a sequel). Ash, our hero, has been transported back in time to the 1300's where he must not only find a way home but battle an army of the dead. Great action scenes(only Raimi can give us those quirky camera moves),one liners and a good plot keeps Army of Darkness kicking the whole time. My ONLY disappontment was that the DVD does not contain the original ending! Hopefully a special edition is made to compensate for this. After all, If the fourth movie picks up from the original, alot of fans will confused.

Movie Review: Groovy
Summary: 5 Stars

I saw this movie, after much prodding from friends, about a year and a half ago (on VHS)... I loved it. After I moved up to the DVD arena, this was one of my first purchases, and I've watched it several times since (and I've laughed to tears each time)... This is not a movie for everyone, it's humor is purely self-depricating, and very ironic. This is one of my all-time favorite comedies, and after having seen the first two in the series (Evil Dead 1 & 2), I can say this movie only gets funnier (there are lots of self-depricating references to the prequels). Also, if you're looking for good retorts and one-liners, this is your movie.

Movie Review: Boom! Boom! Out Go The Lights!...
Summary: 5 Stars

I never thought that Sam Raimi could possibly do anything crazier than EVIL DEAD 2. I was wrong. ARMY OF DARKNESS is the perfect horror-comedy, w/ an unleashed and unhinged Bruce Campbell reprising his role as Ash. AOD is an overdose of non-stop hilarity and insane slapstick. Campbell has never matched his wild performance here. Almost every line he utters is quotable! His feel for physical comedy is sublime. Watch as Ash takes one flogging after another, battling demons, zombie doppelgangers, and a skeleton army! If you like a bit of madness in your horror, you can't do any better than this classic...

Movie Review: B Style with a budget.
Summary: 5 Stars

Fans of the current Hercules/Xena genre should look into this somehwat older classic by Sam Raimi starring Bruce Campbell (Cameo by Ted Raimi). Loosely following the evil dead series (this is part 3), this movies pits our hero Ash fighting the deadites in medieval times while looking for a way back to his own time.

Bruce Campbell is flawless in playing the swashbuckling hero Ash, adding a new dimension to the word tough while defining a new meaning for egotistical.

Effects are somewhat cheesy, but its a B movie style. A must for my collection. In one word :

"GROOVY" END
