Movie Reviews of Army of DarknessMovie Review: The Greatest Horror Satire Ever Summary: 5 Stars
It is a shame that the DVD version has altered so many scenes from the international version.. The sex scene has been cut, the words in the Good Ash/Bad Ash scene have been changed from "I ain't that good" to "Good, bad, I'm the man with the gun.." and the ending has changed (Amongst others..) Even with these cuts and changes, the film still kicks ass, and I hope that a special edition is released with the other bits put back in. (BTW, the "cut" short version is the American version, and the longer "uncut" version is the international version according to Bruce Campbell)This film, whichever version you are watching is a classic, and deserves all 5 of its stars....
Movie Review: The best of Sam Raimi Summary: 5 Stars
More accessible than its two predecessors (Evil Dead 1 & 2) with less gore, this, to me, is the perfect send-up of several genres at once. Bruce Campbell is hilarious as the self-important, arrogant K-Mart type sales clerk with a complete inability to remember important but short magical spells...(and I just loved seeing the Necronomicon and hearing 'Klaatu barada nikto!' in the same film)...I can't believe that anyone but a 12 year old with a gore fixation would dislike it! The scene with Ash trying to outwit his tiny mirror images is another high point...If you are a fan of Horror, Fantasy, and/or Science Fiction films and you have a sense of humor, you must see it!
Movie Review: Ash rocks! Summary: 5 Stars
The third installment of the Evil Dead series, yet the title is not Evil Dead 3.
Bruce Cambell, who plays Ash, is warped from his job at the local depatment store to the past, and finds himself in a rustic village and at the hands of the evil that haunts that village. Ash later wins over the people of the village and their cross town rivals to defeat the Army of Darkness, a band of skeletons and zombies.
This movie I find very entertaining, funny and sometimes weird. I like the skeletons, just because they were not computer generated, which gives a old school look.
Great movie to end the Evil Dead series, and in the words of Ash, "GROOVY!".
Movie Review: Army of Darkness is wildly hilarious Summary: 5 Stars
Okay, it's obvious that lots of Evil Dead fans felt a little betrayed by Army of Darkness because of its lack of horror elements and gore. But it is, IMHO, the funniest film in the series, therefore I consider it the best of the trilogy. (The Evil Dead is almost as good as AOD) I mean, you can give this film a one-star review, but you it's highly unlikely that you were bored by it. I was always entertained throughout the entire film and I found Evil Dead 2 to be rather dull at certain parts, especially almost the entire second half of the movie. If you're a mainstream viewer and you haven't seen The Evil Dead series, AOD would probably appeal to you most.
Movie Review: Tell Siskle.com to go home... Summary: 5 Stars
A true fan of the movies can only give this film the utmost respect. From the great one-liners to the magnificent slapstick comedy this film can only go into the pile of films that I call my "favorite". I still wish that the DVD version contained the clips that were left out of the film. I would have been alot better if it had. But then again lets hope the re-release it. So if Comedy, action aren't your cup of tea then I go check out somthing that Siskel recomends because I guarantee you that it's gonna be a thrill ride... (Note the sarcasm, I hope you can spot it.)Even though I dont agree with him all the time Ebert is so much better (Ie: Babe)
