Movie Review: A Comedy With A Few Surprising Touches
Summary: 4 Stars

This was a nice surprise. I figured it would be stupid and not all that funny. Wrong. It WAS funny.

Yes, it's a harmless "no-brainer" type of movie but it was fun and had likable lead characters, people you could easily root for to make good. In this, it was a pair of security guards: "Frank Dooley" (John Candy) and "Norman Kane" (Eugene Levy).

What also makes this above-average is that it is not just a comedy. There is action and suspense in here and the combination works. Believe me, this film is not all laughs.

I watch this and makes me sad that Candy is no longer with us. He was a great entertainer.

Movie Review: A simple bit of fun
Summary: 4 Stars

I read some of my fellow viewer's comments; I have to say you people need to lightenup somewhat. This is not meant to be a sketch from the Royal Shakespeare Company. It is simple, corny, but fun! The scenario has already been written above, but I think Levy's banter with Candy, especially in the Peep show booth is hilarious. Also in the courthouse as Candy knocks Levy to the ground. "Thanks a lot, made my day." Great stuff! So, if you want to be entertained by pure stupid fun, go ahead, watch and enjoy yourself. This is a funny movie and not meant to impress pseudo-critics, of whom far too many adorn these pages.

Movie Review: "I'm Getting My Christmas Goose Early This Year!"
Summary: 4 Stars

Though this flick is far from perfect I liked it a lot. It has an edgy feel to it not unlike "48 Hours" but lacks the artistry that Walter Hill brought to that film. John Candy and Eugene Levy have great comic rapport and seem to enjoy performing together. I couldn't help but imagine that either actor could have assumed the other's role. Falls somewhere in the middle of the Candy canon. If you like this film you'll also enjoy a relatively obscure film called "Going Berserk" that not only featured Candy and Levy but also their SCTV cohort Joe Flaherty.

Movie Review: very funny film, good cast
Summary: 4 Stars

This film follows John Candy, a police officer who gets fired for a crime he did not commit, and Eugene Levy, a poor excuse for a lawyer through private security guard school and into the new career of Night Watchmen. Little did they know that they would stumble across a conspiracy which they are the only ones poised to unveil. Bolstered in Cast by Meg Ryan, this film has many funny parts that do get you chuckling pretty hard. Along the lines of the Great Outdoors, this film is worth adding to a good comedy collection.
